clutch chatter ?

So there is this odd noise coming from the trans tunnel/firewall region at mainly speeds below 50. It may do it above 50, but the drone may just be drowning it out. Kinda sounds like a steady rattling or five rocks
in a concrete mixer lol!! I know my tremec is supposed to make some noise and I have poly motor/trans mounts but this doesn't sound right. With that said, some one describe clutch chatter to me please.

Like a pulsations or something? No I don't. I've been riding on the king khobra clutch since 2007. The I put in a new t/o bearing and the flywheel was turned, both this april. My car is a kinda weak, so I doubt its an excessive hp problem. Haha

CLutch chatter you will feel. The car will shudder, sometimes real hard, and you can hear the trans and clutch ratttling back and forth. I would take a look inside your inspection cover.

Does it make noise in all gears, or just one specific? My TKO is pretty quiet in all gears except 5th, which has quite a
bit of noise, but am told is normal for that trans.

come to think of it, the noise occurs in fifth only... i've had my 3550 rebuilt once and i chane the fluid every six months... recently i hasd my trans guy check it out and he said everything was clean internally.

Apparently its not a clutch chatter like I thought it was, aaron. Maybe the gearset in my trans is wearin out?

It is most likely your 5th speed gear. Typical for those to go out in the T5 and T45.

Gheyness... I've long considered just updating my 3550 to TKO600 specs, but it'll cost roughly the same (after labor, the kit alone is 999.99) to buy a new one. :dontknow: I guess whenever i win the lottery/rob a bank/receive money from my lawsuit (in that order) I'll update it and have a spare tranny with the road race 5th gear.
