Cobra Problem

On my short commute to work after lunch a problem was evident that wasn't when I went home an hour before. In any gear, at any speed, if I give more than half throttle, there seems to be some kind of miss and the car jerks around some. Anything under half throttle is smooth as can be. I have good oil pressure and water temperature, no codes, everything looks normal. It looked like all my vac lines were good. Any ideas?

if its starting at around a certain RPM, in the 3500 range, it could be an issue with your IMRC's. they could just need to be cleaned.

I don't think it's that. I could be going highway speed in 5th and push the pedal to the floor, and it would start bucking. Idle is normal as well. I'll be checking all my vac lines tonight.

Found some info over on SVTP. Sounds like its plugs and/or wires. Bought some plugs on break, I'll put 'em in tonight and hope for the best. I don't really want to drop $120 on plug wires!

when was the last time you replaced your fuel filter?

I've only had the car for 8,000 miles, so I have no idea when if ever it was changed. Would that produce the same "miss under load" condition I'm experiencing? I've seen two seperate cases of people with these symptoms that were solved with plugs and/or wires. I'm hoping its just plugs :grin:

i suggest you change the fuel filter as well, it is only 10 or so dollars...

If you don't want to spend that much on wires you could probaly pick up a kit to loom them your self for a little cheaper, They even have a really nice how to write up on here :thumbsup:

Thanks for info guys. The plugs helped but I still have a miss at low RPMs. Looks like it's wires for me!

air filter, plugs, wires, fuel filter, strong battery connection with no bad wires.

thats what i suggest.

basically if youre not inclined to doing it all yourself, just take it in for a full tune-up.

Well I already changed the plugs myself.. I can do all these things and I enjoy it, why bring it to some grease monkey who will do God knows what to my Cobra? The air filter only has 8,000 miles on it (K&N). I recently rewired new connectors onto the battery cables (the things that slip over the posts). On SVTP, a guy had my problem, replaced his plugs, had the same symptoms mine did after plugs, replaced his wires, and the problem was solved.
