Hi everyone, first post lol
I was wondering was it worth replacing the stock air system with a CAI ? If not what other mods are worth getting for around the $100 range. I have a 95 GT thats pretty much bone stock, I have a transgo kit i have to get installed but thats it.
-Thanks

CAI are mostly for cosmetic gain and you can find $50 on eBay that work pretty well, i wouldn't pay full price for one.

You will only be as good as your weekest link... A cai will provide a slim gain in power but the stock throttle body and mass air meter will restrict the airflow. I vote for a set of underdrive pullies and advancing the timing to start!!

advancing the timing is free and will net you more HP then a CIA set up will but you also have to run 93/91 octane once you bump the timing up

^ is correct. If not, it'll sound like kim jong I'll firing little nuclear missiles into your pistons. I usually pay about 35-40 bucks a tank to go rolling in my 5.0. Worth every penny!

I bought a UPR piece. Nice and worked well BUT the only reason I bought it was because my stock setup was bad.

If not for that I would simply run the stock setup with a K&N Panel Filter.

Unless somethings wrong with your stock setup, keep it and throw a K&N Filter in it and call it quits.

Or, I believe there was a thread about making your old cold air kit from PVC pipe from a home improvement store..
here ya go: http://sn95forums.com/index.php/topic,19849.0.html
Yours would look a little different because of the fox intake, but same basic principle..
Then take the money you save by doing that, put it in a jar, and save up for GEARS.. you'll be glad you did.

I have the BBK cai that came with my car when I bought it I see no difference between it and the cheap ebay cai I had on my foxbody! both were fenderwell kits and the only visible difference is that the ebay one which is probably about $100 cheaper didnt have a BBK badge on it...

I suppose the factory air tract would be less prone to "heat soak" than aftermarket steel/aluminum tubes. The JLT cai is supposedly one of the best out there for now..
