I am accumulating the pieces need for a manual trans conversion on my 98 A/T GT. So far I have the trans, crossmember, driveshaft and pedals. I have read in some of the threads covering this that instead of getting a junkyard computer, a reman from the autoparts store will work. I have found this at Advance Auto.....

http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_Body-Control-Computer-Cardone_20705278-P_982_R|GRPBODYAMS_____

My questions are has anybody gone this route? Were there any issues? How many computers are there on my car and which ones need to be changed for the swap? Any suggestions are encouraged and appreciated.

the trans computer is the only one you would have to swap but you might not have to i know in my friends 91 240sx we ran the auto computer for about 6 months before switching to the manual trans the only thing it did was i could start in any gear and gain fuel economy when he put the manual computer in. but if you want to switch you need the wiring harness for the trans and the computer. they sell a kit on ebay for the swap just look at that and make sure you have all the parts.

i recently did a auto to manual swap and my car runs fine, the only thing is when it starts up it skips a lil bit but runs great afterwards, all you need to do is just change the computer and thats it, no wires etc

I may be wrong but as far as I know you are referring to the engine controller, I haven't heard of a trans computer for the SNs

You can use the auto computer just get a chip burned for the manual trans.. Wount work the other way around. You can run it like that but won't be the best.

I'm in the same process. I got pedals, manual computer, trans harness from a cobra off ebay, flywheel& bolts, rear main seal, steeda quadrant/cable. I'm saving up for magnum or tko600. I still need to purchase a clutch, and few little pieces.

I had mine done, I tuned the Auto computer to act like a manual.

Get the Manual trans wiring harness, it saved alot of headache, as well as new everything, bolts, bearings, flywheel, clutch, youll be happier in the end. Of course I had more done than just the swap, I still have yet to drive my Car.

I have everything for a H/C/I PI swap too. I am going to do the trans swap first though.
