I have seen an E-cam in a blown, TW headed 89 GT make 570rwhp.

Let's not compare apples to hand grenades. I've seen an F-cammed turbo blow-thru carb setup make 1014 rwhp, but that's not relevant.

you could do the e with 1.7's, i have a f cam and love it... it has ton's of low end and pulls strong in the upper range. sounds like a beast too. the fms cams ar pretty old but can still make power. OR if your not going to half ass it might ass well go custom cam?...

my 347 has very good street manners.. the only thing that makes me NOT want to drive it often is the manual steering

I just think you can do MUCH better than the craptastic E-cam and other FMS cams
