Convertible owners please help!

OK, so im wanting to lower my vert, my main question is do I need a lowering kit that is convertible specific? I've seen some sites that have convertible specific spring kits, are they necessary? Secondly, why are the spring rates different for convertibles than coupes? ex:coupe-1 1/2in front 3/4in rear convert-1.2in front 1.2in rear
I saw a setup exactly like this in jegs, but im not sure why :wall:. Any help is appreciated, pics would be nice, thanks.

The convertibles are heavier than the coupes. I have had springs that were vert specific and some that were not, the Bullitts were not, didn't seem to matter. I am not sure my C springs are vert specific come to think of it.

You don't need convertible specific springs.As long as they are for your year you will be good,they MAY lower a convertible
a bit lower in the rear because of the weight but that's about it.I know what a lot of people have "heard" or "read" but I am
telling you from personal experience.I have done this myself on both of my 98's one 5 speed coupe and one auto convertible
with identical spring.The convertible sits a LITTLE lower in the rear,but you can only tell the difference with a tape measure.
Another point to be considered is the stock springs I took out of both cars have tags still on them with the part codes and they
are the same front and rear on both from the factory.There is a weight difference between the coupes and convertibles but it's
really not that much.One of these days soon I will take them both down to the cat scales and settle this with real world numbers
once and for all.Neither one of my cars has had any kind of weight reduction that I know of,and as much as I hate to admit it
are painfully close to stock.
