look for loose hose clamps first. your heater core shouldn't be going out when the car is only 9 years old. and it'll be a pita to change. give yourself a weekend depending on your skills

It's a sucky time consuming job. If you find yourself getting frustrated walk away for about 15 minutes and come back later.

You guys put too much faith into Ford Service. (no offense if you work there) But I have a 1992 F150 and my key would only work when turning forward. So I took it to the ford dealer (I couldn't even shut the pickup off). They wanted around 500 bucks to fix it (50 bucks for parts). I ended up buying a new tumbler, and worked on it at the shop where I go to school. It took me 4-5 hours, and I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Had to take the steering wheel off (with a rigged up puller) and the steering shaft out of the column. I told myself that if I ever did it again I could do it in less than 2 hours with the proper tools.

Props for getting this far, I don't remember any other bolts holding it to the firewall, but keep at it!
