cooling question

is anybody running just straight water in theyre system, no antifreeze or anything? id like to switch it over, and its a track car and i dont want to dump gallons of slippery shit all over the track in the event of a little rubbing? do u people in the south even have anti-freeze?ive always used it but ive never had to change it when ive lived in the south.

and if u r using water, is it distilled? to help with impurities and suck?

any imput would be nice

anti freeze does more that lower the freeze point. and raises the boiling point (I think) It also lubricates the pump. Distilled would be better that tap water.

actually antifreeze will lower the boiling point. Distilled water and Redline Waterwetter would be your best bet for cooling if you don't need antifreeze.

i run Anti-freeze in Florida. i does get cold enough in the Winter nights to need it

When I got my car it had been setting for 10 months and the Anti-Freeze went acidic, so I ran 3 flushes through it and have ran it for a month with just water to make sure the system is clean before I go back to the mix. After doing the 3 flushes my heater would blow hot as hell.

If you dont want to dump the antifreeze on the track, but still need the properties of anti-freeze, do what i did in my bike, get RV coolant... its the SAME EXACT thing as car coolant BUT no etholine glycol (spelling) and a few other parts so 1 if you injest it, it wont kill you, 2 its not as slippery and 3, has a lower freezing point then water wetter

No. For every 1lb of pressure, the boiling point goes up by 3*. Our cars are at 16lbs before the cap releases pressure. So 16x3=48 more degrees .

Antifreeze/Coolant also raises water's boiling point.

... and perhaps most important. Anti-freeze or other additives are corrosion inhibitors.
