Hey guys I could use a little help if you dont mind. My '95 V6 is over heating and has no heat. I sent it in after I changed the water pump and T-stat to see if the head gaskets were gone, but they said they were good. I have no idea why it gets so hot and has no heat. I was thinking it was the heater core, but if I drive it for 3-5 min it gets heat but still gets really hot (like 250 degree hot). So I'm all out of things to look for and I thought maybe one of you guys had the same problem or could offer some advice to help fix it, I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Is your fan turning on?

Funny thing about the fan is it turns on as soon as I start the car, it will run for about 5 mins then turn off but will turn back on if I turn the heat control to high and run the entire time the heat control is on. It dosent turn off untill I shut the heat off even when it gets hot.

And what are the temps doing if you keep the fan on the entire time?

The temp still climbs to the point I have to shut it off, well over the 180 degree t-stat thats in there. I was out in the garage going over everything and was thinking it might be the coolant temp sensor, would this cause this problem?

Temp sensor could cause the fan to not come on but obviously wont make it overheat

Did you try to take out the thermostat altogether so there is always coolant flowing through the system? Also you need to make sure you get ALL air out of the system so there arent pockets causing issues like this

Today I changed the coolant temp sensor and it did nothing, but I did use a tip from joekd about putting antifreeze in the sensor location and it seem to work. The car dosent get as hot any more, but the fan still runs as soon as I turn the heat controls on. It wont turn on when the t-stat opens up so I'm thinking its the fan relay (if these cars have one). I'll have to see and wait, but I wanted to thank joekd for all your help, I really appreciate it.
