I've been tossing around this idea in my head for a while. I want to see what the consensus is around here.

I went to the big Fords at Carlisle show last year, and was severely tempted to buy a car I saw there.
The car was a 96-98 Cobra, looked mechanically stock, but the paint was literally the most faded and peeling laser red I've ever seen in my life. Left in a cornfield bad. The guy only wanted like $2500 for it I think.

Now I know this car would have been a ton of work to repaint and spruce up, but as a flipper I'm sure I'd make money if I'd have bought it. I tend not to sell though.

I have an svo blower for my 96 gt, so the horsepower boost isn't as big a draw as it would be for some. Cobras are damned expensive to modify and fiddle with. But, hey, it's still a Mustang Cobra.

If I were mustang-less, I'd have jumped on it in a heartbeat. I'd bet an Aztec Gold Cobra would look killer. At the time though, I was in the middle of restoring my FIL's 75 El Camino, so I didn't really have time or space for another project. Kinda kicking myself for not buying it anyway.

What would you guys have done?

Bought it and parked it in a storage unit or somewhere under a cover. I’d of repainted it to the factory color if trying to flip for value. The gold would be cool but a lot of extra work with all the jams and such.

Ive bumped into similar deals with regrets of not buying, but i always tell myself, it wasnt ment to be.

Think of it as a blessing you didnt buy it. Perhaps there was alot of un-seen rust going on with the under carriage.

I probably would have passed on it too. But then I'm not at a point where I can have project cars everywhere. If I had room I'd probably stick it off to the side until the time was right.

It's true I had no idea what the underside really looked like, could have been okay, maybe not. But I sure wouldn't have driven it like that. Even rattle can flat black would have been an improvement.

They're like baseball cards though. You want to have them ALL. Lol.
