hey guys i m wondering if anyone can explain to me what cylinder heads they all think work best for 95 gt ? my odemeter reads almost 120 k miles and i m hearding a tapping sound and leaking oil outta of my one tail pipe. was thinkin about the crate motor idea and than i reconsidered with the money you spend i ve been reading a lot of people say to rebuild your current 302 engine and throw some better heads on there . i m confused with the cc of the cylinder heads and what ones i would need. i m looking into the AFR and trick flow heads but besides the two companys i dunno what else i should be looking for ,, i dont wanna do nitrous poss a supercharger in years to come but not right away.. any help you guys can share in on and help me would be great.. any other questions you guys need me to answer will be more than happy to answer... thanks again guys

I have trick flow myself but have never heard anything bad about afr other then price. It would be helpfull if not necessary to know the issues of the motor before its recomended to upgrade the heads or replace the motor though. A tap might be nothing or.....

Oil out the Tail pipes is usually due to wiped out piston rings... The tapping ur hearing could be a sticky or collapsed lifter , or loose rocker

Afr 165 come in 58 cc for stud mount and 60 cc for pedestal mount. Stock heads range from 60-64 cc.
with the rest of your budget in consideration, don't buy heads until after your motor is out, diagnosed, and repair costs figured.
You may have already spent your whole budget.

I run the twisted wedge 170's and have had good luck with them as well as with a stage 1 cam by trick flow. I think they are almost as good as afr but can be alot cheaper. I got them on sale from summit shipped new for a grand.

so the trick flow twisted wedge cylinder heads now come with stud mounted roller rocker arms ? in that case what are some good roller rocker arms for the TF heads ? also what other parts will i need for the trick flow heads ? i wasnt planning on changing the roller rocker arms being the ones on there are crane cam ones but like ttcos said i can always put them on CL and if they sell or trade would just be a bonus.. when i do the head swap i would change anything needed or should be changed with a engine with 120 k miles ..
how long does a cylinder head swap job take a car mechanic rough est. about hour wise ?

thanks again guys for your input ,, very helpful and made my decision on the Trick Flow heads now i just need to find what other parts i m gonna need and what cc for the camber would be best.. thanks again

trick flow makes rockers as well. I found some on here I think it was used, SVO brand can't remember what I paid for them.... There are alot of good brands and if you keep your eyes open they are not hard to find used.

thanks guys for all your input but I made my choice going to go with the afr 165 heads , I have a stock bottom end motor on a 95 gt , can anyone let me know what afr heads I would need ? I also have crane cam roller rockers from my previous build I was thinkin about reusing,, can anyone help me out and let me know if putting used crane cam roller rockers (pedestal mount ) on my new afr heads would be ok n good or if I should buy new roller rockers ? my mechanic ( family member cousin ) whos doing my install said I didn't need new ones and to keep the ones I have. also if I do get new roller rockers would I see any hp gains over the crane cams ? and what brand roller rockers does everyone suggest ? thanks again guys for all your input .. def did as everyone mentioned and buying the afr's, is it all bullcrap about gaining almost 100 hp just from these heads ? cant believe everything your read.... thanks again

I don't think you'll be disappointed with the AFR 165s, if you want to run pedestal rockers make sure you buy the heads that support that. last i checked they made 3 versions of the regular 165 heads, two with stud mount and one with pedestal. the pedestal one should have 60cc combustion chambers which should bump your compression slightly.

If you just have the stock rocker arms it would probably make sense to buy some roller rockers, again just make sure you buy the proper rockers for the heads you're buying.

They are nice heads but don't expect 100hp gain from them.
