beautifull day today. There was a car/airplane show locally as well as a beer garden for a humane society benifit tonight that made wish I could still drink so I could take my chic magnet with me. Car started up like crap this morning as usual. I pulled out my meter and checked the TPS sensor as I was told in the other post and it did have a few dead spots and a couple that shorted out. After dickin with it for long enough I must have cleaned the contacts in the sensor as it then fired up, idled perfect and I was off. Stopped at autozone, napa, advanced auto and pep boys to see about a tps sensor and idle air control valve since it was old and would be comming off too. No one had one, advanced is supposed to get it in the morning. So then I go to the show. About a half mile from it I hit a bump and hear a strange dragging noise from under the car. I immediatly pulled over expecting the worse and when I looked under the car to see it was all clear I was confused.... Checked from the back, side and front and could not see anything hanging. I looked down the highway and noticed something shiney about 20 yrds away from me on the shoulder and was shocked to realize it was my filter and the flange that holds it to the maf(I have an anderson power pipe as my intake with a 90mm maf in the fender).... It was now about 2 inches tall with the flange being 1.5" thick.... The flange had some scrapes and the o-ring was gone but otherwise it was still flat/straight where it needed to be, the filter looked like a top hat that was stepped on(tried to pop it out but no go). So went back to the zone for a new filter, then back to ace to get the screws I needed to replace. I was shocked to find 2 of the screws still in the maf holes but it made it easy to find replacements. Went back home, used some silicone to seal up the flange/filter since the o-ring was gone and was sure to use locktight when screwing them all back together. Figured I was done, went to fire it up and the car will fire for about a half a second before it shuts off. I can hear the fuel pump prime both when turning the key and again after the motor shuts down for some reason. If I turn the key on-off 4/5 times to prime the pump a few times it runs for a little longer but still dies. I have a holley 255 lph pump I am getting ready to install as my tuner told me it was running lean in high rpms but I don't have a fuel pressure gauge to see if it is good/bad. any other ideas to check out?
