deal or no deal?

hey guys, there is a guy that contacted me that wants to trade his car for mine. mine is a 97 GT with little things done to it and has 121k miles. his is a 95 GT with a built motor and rebuilt trans. he claims the car has around 100k miles and 3k on the build. from the pics he sent me the car looks as good as mine. he claims this is done to the motor

all he has said is he wants a newer one, i dont get why hed want mine over his either. he has the phone number to the shop that did the build, so i could call them or even go in and talk to them. i think its worth him coming to look at the cars. if its beat then id say no, but if its as nice as my car then i think itd be a good deal on my part.

correction, his is a GTS not a GT. does this change anything

GTS would be the one with no options/frills. Manual everything, no wing, no ABS, just V8 basically. Doesn't change too much uinless that matters to ytou.

i know that it came with crank windows, cloth seats, no spoiler, no fog lights stuff like that. a no option v8 pretty much. that makes it lighter tho doesnt it?

That car is def worth more than yours. Sorry, but it's the truth. You will not make your's nearly as fast as his even spending more money. That combo should be around 350 hp or so, in that neighborhood. I would trade for the car asap before he changes his mind and after you speak to the shop and give it a good drive. Once you drive it and feel that torque and hp it has, you'll be all over it.

Wait, what heads are on it? If they are stock then the car will barely squeak 300 hp out. if that. Still a lot more than the 210 yours makes.

Well, that means a lot to the deal, don't you think? I mean that's about 50 hp there and about 1200 bucks or so depending on the head. Just get all the facts but it really is a good deal if there are no issues with the car.

for some reason it seems like hes trading me a headache, thats just a feeling i have though.

i also have a guy coming to look at/pontentially buy it, and hes driving 180 miles to do so.

i think id rather sell the car outright but if that falls through, then ill look at the stroker probably this weekend

It does sound kinda fishy, No offense to your car or anything, but that 5.0 is pretty modified for wanting to trade for a mostly stock car. But if it all checks out to be reliable, and like mentioned other than stock heads. id say go for it asap!

there was a guy on my other forum that said he looked at the car, and it is JUNK and to stay away. ill take his word for it.

one would wonder why that motor does not have good heads on it. Why build everything else and not put a great set of heads with it? Sounds like that car should be sick. Kinda fishy as too why he wants this trade...
How many miles does your car have on it?
Does he have any paper work to back up this work done?

no he has no evidence, says he has the number of the shop... but its not, other forum members have said its a number to his friends phone. its all a scam, he just wants to get rid of his junk. so i told him off. now im looking to buy just a cheap reliable car to drive. something around $5000.
