But I was always taught that the "Oil cooler" on these fords like in the super duties and cop cars were actually meant to get the oil to operating temp sooner..then afterwards maintain a certain temp..thus a sort of preheater first and then a oil cooler second...I mean look at how it uses coolant rather than a Heat sink like a air to air oil cooler..?
But the coolant is just as cold as the car when it first starts up which it the only time the warm oil is really needed before driving. My Ford TM doesn't say anything about the purpose of the oil cooler being to warm the oil.
True about it being cold...to a point..But the coolant will get to temp quicker cause it circulates around the actual combustion chamber where heat is at.. Also I used the term "Preheater" and should not have included that... I'm not trying to imply that it is a preheater..No way for it to be one right? more extreme temps would show it as being useful by getting heat to the oil and up to operating temp..
