Difference in 96 and 03 Brake Lines

I have acquired some 03 calipers recently and I want to put them on my car (96 GT). The only thing is I am looking at the brake lines on American Muscle and it says the brake lines are different for the 94-98 Mustangs and the 99-04 Mustangs.

Does anyone know what exactly is different for the brake hoses? Is the fitting different with the brake hoses, would the calipers even work properly? I know they will fit the rotors fine.

It's funny because it is just the J&M lines that are not interchangeble. I looked on Maximum Motorsports website and their lines fit 96-04.

I have 02 calipers on my 96 gt but it came with stainless lines, from what I can remember and see the mounting block where the banjo bolt goes thru to the caliper is diff.

The the line probably fits, I just need to get the right bolt. Should be easy because I have the old bolt from the 03 caliper lines anyway.

I actually took a closer look and MM supplies bolts and they state that depending on what year you have a different type of bolt. So that's probably just it. I guess I need to find the right bolt. Or maybe Napa would have it.

@Xploder: What do you mean by clearanced?

Thanks for that thread. It was definitely informative. It actually reconfirmed my original research.

@Blckstng96: If you read the thread Red95r posted, the grinding was done for the 94-95 cars. So I'm guessing that if you have a 96 like me or 97/98 then you won't have to grind anything.

I was really worried about the fittings for my stainless steel brake lines since American Muscle has the J&M lines are made to fit two different years and I didn't want to spend $100 on new lines after just installing these a year ago. I just couldn't figure out what was different about the two different lines. From what I see on any other site the lines are all the same except the fitting that bolts into the caliper has a different screw. In which case I can just buy a proper fitting at NAPA. I'll post more for others who may have bought the J&M stainless steel lines. If I were to buy stainless steel lines all over again, I would have went to MM and bought their kit because the supply the different bolts and they were cheaper and probably similar quality.

Jrad I do have a 96. I havn't changed my name. Mine is a early production 96 which finished out the 94-95 parts. Some do some don't sort of deal. I was going to do this same project but my passenger side PBR caliper was toast.

difference is a bigger piece of hardline, whereas our ´94/´98 lines are almost all rubber. This improves braking feel and reduces failures. I bolted some new edge lines on my ´96 cobra while ago, fit right up.
