Ive heard ppl say to keep the smog pump but why? What is the point in keeping the smog pump?... Im repainting my car inside and out and puting in a new motor and that thing was first on the list to go. All i have to do is safty to get it plated here so is there really any point in keeping it? EGR is also on the choping block lol. Im keeping my ac as this is my DD. Really cant stand to see all the clutter in the engine bay. Ive seen a few cars that have went as far as to route the wires inside the fenders and smooth out and fill in the holes in the engine bay. While my car is far from a show car id be lieing if i said doing that aswell hadnt crossed my mind... Suggestions , tips , tricks?

the smog pump is used to help heat the cats up at first start up.
If you don't get smog ck'd then you can lose it.
If you do get smog ck'd then you can probably still lose it, but i'd make sure it's not required.

I'd leave the egr though.

I have no EGR and no Smog and once it was tuned it ran quite well. I do get a CEL but it has nothing to do w/ those two

No, SMOG doesn't hurt anything, and the EGR actually helps the tune and the fuel mileage.

People always remove smog because they think it's some kind of "free mod" but it doesn't do anything but fvck up the tune (specifically when you remove the EGR) and make the car run worse. The 94-95s are finicky about removing the EGR. We've been over this about a billion times in the 94-95 tech section. Let's not beat it to death any further here.

If you have a built motor, and are getting a tune to switch it off, then perhaps it's reasonable to remove the EGR. However, all these dumbass kids that go yanking it off because they think it's a "mod" - that's just stupid.

Yeah When it all goes in i its getting a custom tune , goin with a nice 331 afr heads victor intake ect ect...
More or less stuff I have from past projects. I'm not looking to make a ton of hp just want something fun to drive , reliable and clean. Goin for a stock look just all the bs and clutter under the hood annoy the hell out of me lol. Its all goin to be at once so I'm not real worried about it being to finicky.
