dizzy to coil pack swap info wanted.....

ive been doing some reading and it is possible, I need a few answers or links :
1, I know it needs a cam sensor, is that the cam sensor on the explorer motors where the dizzy would be?
2, they say you need obd2 but heres my situation, thunderbird and cougar DO have an obd1 coilpack for the 4.6, couldn't I just snag that ecu and wireharness and throw in the cam sensor where my dizzy is and wire it up? or am I missing some big things here..?
3, anyone have any 1sy hand info on this or have done it...?

Im not doing it for HP or anything, I just really hate dizzys,timing lights and how prone to trouble a dizzy is...

thisn is just something id like todo maby while the trans gets found and done...

To run a edis waste spark system on a 5.0 you will need...

To mount a 36-1 trigger wheel and a vr sensor on the crank and properly phase it.

remove the dizzy or use explorer cam sensor and use that as a oil pump drive

wire up the edis 8 properly.


Your PCM might be able to be re programmed to run off o edis, but you will probably loose sequential fuel injection. If you ran a megasquirt processor, you can run edis, coil on plug (or like ls motors) and retain full sequential fuel an ignition timing. The ecc 4 processor could run edis, but its not optimal.

there is much more to it than running a cam sensor. (Which is a on/off switch for cam position anyway.

^ that's what I was looking for...thank you....I looked into that stuff and you are correct.This involves wayyyyyyy too much, lol...scrap this idea.
