Mods can be suspension or brakes. I consider mods to be anything that improves performance and that includes at the drag strip or at the corner carving tracks. The two types of set ups wont require the same types of mods but the track guys cant tell the drag guys that what they do are not mods and vise versa b/c they both require different things.

Dammit I wish I had idiots around here that thought painting their hood would add 20 HP. I'm sure there are I just never run into them

Saw a late 90's Eclipse (before the big Fast and Furious lime green one) the other day coming home from work with the 3 ft aluminum wing mod bolted to his stock spoiler. His wing was atleast 6 inches taller than the car itself.

I agree with that too. A floor mat is just something you threw into your car not a mod, just something. I think a "mod" should have a price limit lol. It should start at about 100 haha that'll keep away a sticker or floor mat being called a mod
yeah I realized after I wrote it. For my plain mats that say gt they were like 130 lol.

have you bought floor mats lately? Some from Ford and the "custom" pieces that can be sewn to your likings with logos and what not are right in that 100 dollar rang. lol

I don't really think price can be used to gauge the value of a part. A chrome plated gas tank that costs 400 dollars doesn't do a damn thing compared to a set of 180 dollar gears.

Yeah, nix on the price cap, I mean a 2 buck spark plug can gain me .4 in the 1/4 if I replace a burned up one.

I say who gives a crap. This could have the potential to turn into a monkey 5H1T fight. Its like the same arguement I hear time and time again about what constitutes a "street car" or "race car."

to me mods are modification from stock, custom is made one off by hand not copied by machine, street is legally street driven regardless of how hard to do it.

Well, if you don't want to participate, then why post? And if you want the thread to die, then why post? lol. Just sayin. I just saw something pointed it out and get a kick out of how the slang terms have lost their meanings for one reason or another. I will never open up another "95 GT with lots of Mods!" for sale thread again. promise you that.

Nah, you missed the point, you got into the thread and said who gives a crap, but obviously you do, just pointed that out. and yeah, I'm interested in everyone's opinion, reason I started this thread isn't it? I'm not saying anyone can or can't post in here, just didn't understand your point.

Ok well here is my opinion...if you're selling a car, I don't think a buyer is going to care of differentiate between saying your car is custom or modded. My point made yet?

I'd say 99.9% of the questions on this forum are opinion based questions.

Regardless I dont think there is a proper answer to the question. We are just questioning when and why "mods" went from performance based upgrades to include a carbon fiber fuel filler neck cover.

Honestly I think its because of the ricer, Fast and Furious, movement.

What if I built a custom roll cage for my car....then "modded" it to better suit a different need...is it now a "modded custom cage" or did I just divide by zero and the destroy the very fabric of time and space?

I think that 'mods' have changed from actual performance/visual upgrades because of little billy that wants credit for everything he put on his car. There are little 'touches' and there are 'mods'. Some add power, some dont.
