I was trying to find some more info on how to do this. so far all i have found is:

1) buy a center dash piece from a 01-04 mustang that is already setup for a double din

2) try fab something up with the a stock piece out of a 94-00 gt.

Have any of you guys done this before or have any tips of what i should do?

I would buy a radio surround from a late model new edge, then buy an install kits for a large radio.

Im sure you understand how our 94-00 stereo is setup, I was going to use a 01 and up dash piece, but after borrowing my friends from his Mach 1, I found out it wont work. First his dash piece will go right on our dash around the top. To get the bottom in you would have to cut the 2 screw mounts where our dash piece screws in. After that it goes right on. But on the 01 and up mustang there is a cross bar in their dash that the double din stereo is bolted to.. With out it an aftermarket double din will not have any support. I just finished fiberglassing mine it was the only way to do it. It came out very nice and it is going to the shop next week to be painted Sonic Blue. I cant wait till it is back. I made mine to fit a Pioneer Avic-D3. Hope this helps.
