I was trying to find some more info on how to do this. so far all i have found is:

1) buy a center dash piece from a 01-04 mustang that is already setup for a double din

2) try fab something up with the a stock piece out of a 94-00 gt.

Have any of you guys done this before or have any tips of what i should do?

Man I've wanted to put a double din in my Cobra for a few years, i was going to do the 01-04 bezel approach but I couldn't find anything solid for the install...

I briefly talked with a guy that put the 01-04 bezel in his car with a double din, he said it didn't take much to make it fit. I couldn't get any more details from him but it's definitely possible if you're willing to work with it. I wanted some more solid answers before i started tearing into my car, though...

the only thing that i dont like about the bezel from the 01-04 is the buttons on the bottom. i mean i have no use for them. i guess i could just use them for other things. but idk i guess i need to put more thought into these things.

my plan is to just remove the buttons and put a plaque over them to hide them.

I thought it was just easier to do a 01-04 dash swap, it looks so much better, plus with the 94-98 center counsol, it would look awesome, especially in a vert. its really not that hard to do it took me about 3hrs to pull the dash out and put one back in. i got my whole dash on ebay for 250 shipped to the door, it also came with all the trim peices.

you swapped the ENTIRE DASH? Not only is it funny that you are posting on a nearly 3 yr old post but all you needed to do was to swap the center sections out and do some trimming on the old dash, maybe 20 mins or work total. paying for an swapping the entire dash didn't buy you much except a back ache, a few wasted hours and $$$.
