Why would you need too is my question? The drive shafts on these things are huge, seems like you could put quite a bit of power through them. Somebody care to elaborate for me?

been wanting to do that myself. Wonder if we couldn't wrangle a few people up and set up a group buy on them?

I've looked at aluminum drive shafts. I'm not too worried about the weight savings or supposed performance gains, but I have some vibrations at certain speeds and I think a balanced aftermarket shaft would help...at least almost everyone I've seen that upgraded to a balanced aluminum shaft says they noticed marked improvement in vibrations from the drive train.

less rotational mass which means less parasitic drag. it's just as strong as stock. /thread

Unless you have vibration issues there is really no need for it. I have run them on almost all my stangs and to me they really dont do much. You can spend that money on other upgrades that will actually make a bigger difference.

not sure I really agree that you shouldn't take the opportunity to save weight on the rotational mass, as well as just on the car in general. I mean a few hundred bucks and an easy install and you probably will not get out and swear you feel the difference but match it with some lighter wheels/flywheel and all those little bits add up. I will be doing it sooner or later.

I have one, can't feel a difference. It would be one of the last mods I would consider. Spend money elsewhere if you want a mod that you will notice.

And I also have an aluminum flywheel, so I have all the "less parasitic drag" possible, and I still cant tell any difference. Of course I have to give it more gas from a stop than with a heavier stock flywheel. It might add up slightly, but I don't think you will ever be able to "feel" a difference.

So to sum this up it's pretty much not worth doing right?

In my opinion, no its not. Atleast I would only recommend it as one of the last mods I would do after the rest of the car was built. Its not that its a bad mod, theoretically the less rotational mass helps, but you wont feel any difference assuming your stock driveshaft is in decent shape.

Maybe you would feel it if your stocker was messed up and you replaced it with a aluminum one.
