Went to the dyno yesterday and I was happy with the results. Car put down 211/260. Mods are.....
PI intake
C&L plenum
C&L intake
High flow catted H pipe
Mac catback

So given the average 15% driveline loss I think im right on target for what it should be making.

Now my buds 97 GT may be a freak. His car has a these mods.....
K&N intake
Underdrive pulley's
O/R X pipe
Flowmaster catback

His car put down 214/281.....WTF!

His car has over 120k on it and runs super strong. Is it possible for a NPI car with those mods to put down those #'s or is there more to the car than we know?

My 98 was stronger then the typical NPI car. Ran like it to at the track and it was an auto.

vehicles are 100% products of the day they were built on. Its amazing how you can have 2 consecuitive vin cars and one be a horrible check engine queen, and the other never turn on a light and have origional parts for 100k. Its just the day of the week they are built on.

As far as yours being a freak... possibly

STOCK they were rated 215/285 BUTTTT alot of tuners, and I mean ALOT will alter their numbers so ppl who come in for a tune and are searching for "the number" will hit it and then have thier friends come in and get it. Personally I think thoes numbers are a weee bit off. I have ported heads and cams and I made 304/310......

I've seen some 5sp NPI dyno @ 190rwhp stock so add 10hp for the exhaust and another 10 for K&N and UDP's and its possible especially if its tuned. I've read the 96/97 really can pick up 10-15 hp just on a tune alone because Ford was extremely soft on the early 2V cars.

Is your car a 5sp or Auto?
You have the complete C&L Intake system? I had one and it gets friggen hot... I sold it and bought a plastic one.

98's have a better exhaust port on the heads and a better tune from the factory.

My car when it was bone stock made 201rwhp, that was before I owned it, and that was bone stock, with bolt on's when i bought it,I had it tuned it made 226rwhp, which I thought was low, but I guess thats high,my isnt a 96+ but thats for example for my stock/bolt on sn95 5.0 car made for power then.

ive seen average of 170-180rwhp, high end seems to be 190-200rwhp stock.

my car is not the freak in question, mine made 211/260. Niether car is tuned and it was not really the HP that got our attention it was the torque, 281 on a bolt on NPI I thought was alot. Both cars are 97's and both are 5spd's. Im sure with a set of pulleys, a O/R pipe, and tune I would be closer to 230rwhp. I just thought that having the PI intake would give me slightly higher #'s than my bud. Im happy with my #'s though.

The 15% drivetrain loss is an easy pickup with very light mods. ALL of the NPI's/PI's react this way. The limits start to be felt right about the 250-260rw range. The increased flow rate/spin of the new plenum with the PI intake and better flowing exhaust all are doing it's duty at a higher percentage. (IMO in stock form and for the money, the PI intake is the best thing to do to increase power per dollar and for ease of install.)

It's past that point, that the mods start to lessen the impact of Hp/Tq.

As some examples. When stock, I put down 180rw w/ a CAI. With an O/R H pipe and Plenum/75mm Tb I picked up another 18rw before the tune and reached a total of 218rw when we were done tuning.

By just adding a full PI engine, the first dyno pull made 240rw. By the time we were done tuning, I made 255rw. Two other following dyno days made 257rw and another day made 260rw.

So does 211/260 sound about right for my mods? I listed them in the first post.

yes

stock is about 160-180rwhp for autos and about 170-200rwhp for 5 speeds stock for stock sn95 gt's 5.0 or 4.6.

so with that said you have a good 11-30rwhp gain vs stock so I would say so, being urs is a 5 speed you prob gained a good 20+rwhp over stock baseline.

Mine 98 GT is too. Mine made 206.9rwhp and 280.8ft/lbs with no more than an x-pipe, flowmasters, a BBK CAI, and an unknown tune from SCT. Plus it has 163,000 miles. I've also ran a best of 14.19 @ 95.26 with said mods and stock goodyear tires.

On the dyno:
