hey guys I m undecided on whats better off to do with my car either get a mail order chip tune like sct 4 chip or a dyno tune ? now I know the dyno tune is better obvi.. but its also way more expensive and I m not into track or racing at all just a street car . I m doing all searching and its as I know dyno is better can a chip still be as good and is it needed first and for most. my mods on my car are all basic bolt ons as: trick flow heads, edolbrock performer intake, bbk intake, bbk throttle body, 24 ib injectors. headers, h pipe, flowmaster exhaust, pulleys, I m sure I m missing some stuff but just your all your basic bolt on, I have no nitrous, s.c , or turbo.. if I would get a chip from online site would that work for all my mods ? or do you think I need to make an appointment and get it dyno tuned ? thanks for any input I m very confused and seems like them more I read the more opinions I see that mixed between the two.. thanks again

I got the mail order from bama/am muscle. Then I was able to just barely able to limp it too the dyno, and drive it home from there. I still have the free tunes, but will be going back to the dyno for my next tune.

So much better when they have the car there bro. Dyno is more expensive, but well worth it.

Only reason to go with a mail order is if you do not have a dyno tuner within reasonable driving distance. Pay for that mail order tune and you'll be paying more later for a dyno tune when the car doesn't perform like you want it or god forbid the tune isn't right and you hurt the motor. And in that situation when a dyno is not close get a Moates QH and learn to tune it yourself vs a mail order.

If you are thinking Bama Tunes from AM don't. They cannot not do aftermarket heads or cams...only GT 40 stuff & the alphabet Ford Racing cams...

well not necessarily true I have twisted wedge heads and stage 1 cam and those parts were all in the dropdown menu's but again the final product was not something I was happy with.

OP are you still on the stock cam? If you are, I would try to get a small stage 1 cam in it then get it dyno tuned. I think that will give you a very noticeable improvement and get the most out of your dyno session.

with bolt ons, i suggest the mail-in tune (unless you live somewhere at an excessively high or low altitude.)

but since you have a head swap, I'd suggest a dyno tune.

Bama tunes will not sell me a tune with AFR Heads & a Steeda 19 cam or similar....like you found out it may run but not well...I was talking to the directly for a week or so & they finally told me no. This was before Christmas.

They never mentioned it to me and the guy doing the tune even called me to find out if I had the conversion hrns off of my lightning maf. Wish they would have mentioned that it might not run right/well as I would have saved the money and just gone to the tuner.

Even with bolt ons its hard for them to know everything going on in your car.

Really its hard to do a mail order tune correctly without datalogs being exchanged. I mean they are pretty much just using their experience to "guess" on the tune but ideally they need the datalogs to dial in the AFR perfectly.

One of the BEST places for a mail order tune for the 94-95 Mustangs is from Willie @ DirtyDirtyRacing.com. There are two or three other places that are good with the 94-95 computers that other tuners dont understand or dont want to understand.

http://dirtydirtyracing.com/zc/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=66&products_id=182

The other guys are, if memory serves correct

Wes Ratcliff @ TPS Performance, not sure if hes there anymore

Don @ Lasota Racing

Adam @ POPs Racing

There might be a one or two more who can do a mail order tune. And there are some guys who have a good grip on the 94-95 computers by doing it themselves using Moates and BE or TwEECer etc..
