E brake sensor?

Ok so 96 gt vert, went to put up the top up and it wouldnt go up, so i started messing with it checked fuses and such. checked e brake and it was up and even pulled up harder and nothing, so i let the e brake down and then yanked it up and the light on the dash lit up and top went up fine. What do i need to fix? Im lost :dontknow:

probably all you need to do is adjust the sw in the console

There's a simple little switch in the console that probably isn't getting a good ground/connection on the switch. I've had that problem lately and rubbed off the grime and it's working better.
