I have always hated how big and gody the intake manifold on the 5.0's are. I would really like to go with a "carb" style manifold. Edelbrock makes their Super Victor EFI Intake Manifold. It looks like a Carb Manifold but it has Injector holes so i could run fuel injection still. My only problem is it says the operating RPM range is from 4500-9000 RPMs. Now i wont be revving my car that high anytime soon but would really like to use this manifold.

Why is it rated so high? and would i have any issues running it on my car? Remember right now i dont ever rev past 6000 RPM MAX!!

Here it is at Summit:

I would also like to know what determines a certain RPM range for intake manifolds?

I think these intakes are made for high reving stroker motors with a turbo, or supercharged application. A lot of drag cars run this setup but its probably a little much unless you plan on some major power adder.

I have a turbo setup on my car already. Im just trying to figure out like if i were to put this intake on the way my car sits right now would it have no power really cuz i wouldnt be in its operating range very much. and when i was it wouldnt be for long?

I thought they were only good for forced induction and at higher rmps for racers. IT doesn't have the large reservior of air to pull from right off the line but once it gets flowing then it really moves.

Since your car is turbo'd, the intake manifold decision becomes less significant in the grand scheme of things. While a super-efficient intake is critical in a naturally aspirated combination, a pressurized inlet overcomes lots of the "disadvantages" of a particular intake manifold. If you want to run it, run it. However, I don't see the point of making a change because of the way something looks.

well i got the turbo to force the air in. and it spools relatively quickly. but i DD this car when the weather is good. So idk if when im not building boost if the car will just be a slug driving around town

Thanks for the info Paul. i was hoping you'd chime in on this thread. And yeah changing it for looks is a little vain. but i would like a good looking engine bay. I would like to get rid of as much wiring as possible too. but i have just seen this intake on a few boosted 302's and i have always thought they look amazing. I also wasnt sure if they were running it cuz it works better with boost or not. cuz not every one that i have seen rev's that high

I personally only know one person running this intake setup, his car has an all forged bottom end 306ci motor with a bottom end girdle running , iron victor sr. heads, custom cam, and a 70mm turbo. As far as driveability he has no problem but he is also running a F.A.S.T. system. But at 20psi. his car is making 630rwhp.

What is a F.A.S.T. system? lol. and that car sounds pretty BA! My motor is justa stock Cobra 5.0. with a 67MM turbo. I will only be running about 12-14 PSI MAX at the track until i build the motor a little more. I will DD it at 6PSI

Your non-boost responsiveness might be a little lazy, but if it floats your boat, go for it.

With the combination you described, I'd just leave it the way it is. Your money is better spent elsewhere.
