I deleted my EGR valve and SMOG pump and other related items

I was wondering if i routed the red and green vacuum lines correctly...Most likely I didn't. I used the red line for the vacuum source for the FPR and put the EGR hose into the intake...

Let me know

For the Smog pump I capped the "White" and "Orange" lines

For the unused "Red" and "Green" line i Plugged the "Red" as the vacuum source for FPR and "Green" EGR line back to the manifold so i pumps the air back in????>>>>>.......LOL. ( I think i did this wrong and the "Red" line.)

Also i capped off the line under the upper intake, This piece broke off so i just unplugged it and left it. there was some kind of vacuum module hooked up to it

This is the piece i threw away. Do i need this or do i have to get another one and hook it back up under the upper manifold? Isn't this part of EGR?

Nothing is hooked up right now....

I left the lines as how it was from the fender.

What is that red and green vacuum lines? Green is for EGR and Red is for Manifold? I threw the manifold tree to fuel regulator "U" rubber and used the red line as a vacuum source. Did i mess things up here?

Please let me know :headbang:

Thanks

i know for a fact that the peice you threw away does not have anything to do with the egr.

it's the fuel purge something or other and should get vacuum from under the upper

Okay so the piece i broke is called canister purge solenoid. Since i don't have the EGR or the Smog pump can i just get rid of this? If i don't have the smog pump this solenoid and charcoal canister is useless along with the smog and EGR hoses and connectors inside the fender...I think :dontknow:

I researched a little and it purges gas fume back in to the intake and tells the computer to lean out. So it is basically another emission equipment that it will be malfunctioning.

I went and got another purge solenoid just in case. but i do not see the need to hook this up...

I want some opinion. I am going to get the car tuned so i will be deleting the EGR and SMOG, Emission stuff out of the ECU.

Let me know

Thanks :headbang:

Okay. So i took it for a drive. Car runs like crap.

I took out the "Green" EGR line and "RED" vacuum completely and plug those 2 lines and stuffed it under the fender.

I hooked up the fuel pressure line back to normal as how it was from the vacuum tree.

Why is this? I have not plugged up the EGR yet. I left the EGR solenoid on the elbow but not plugged up yet where header tube used to mount. I plugged/capped up the header only.

Is this what is causing it?

It studers really bad. It is like hesitation but also like misfiring, Almost like running out of fuel. Car jerks and dies every time i come to a stop.

Let me know what i can do to fix this EGR stuff.

Thanks guys :crybaby2:

So you the the FPR coming straight off the intake or vacuum tree now right?

Also did you plug the check valve and tube that runs to the back of the heads? I didn't then wondered why i was getting a lean code. :BangHead:

that is not tied into the smog system at all

+1

it opens a carbon canister that holds gas vapors when youre at highway speeds. if the canister isnt purged it will throw a MIL.

Well...here is what i did.

I put the EGR stuff back on.

EGR valve and vacuum lines and the canister purge solenoid i got from salvage yard. I even got the header tube and put it back on. No more CEL light.

Car sounds little different. may be because of my 1.7 rockers and new fuel 255 lph pump i put in? Idles little different then before. More choppy.

I changed the intake manifold and deleted the smog, put 1.7 rockers, and new fuel pump, attempted to delete EGR(FAILED), New harmonic balancer, Bigger throttle body, etc etc

Car runs fine now. I am going to leave the EGR on until i get it tuned.

I am going to install a nitrous kit anyday now so i will need to ask some more questions later. I should wait until i install the kit and get it tuned right?

For those of you who deleted EGR and your car is not tuned and it is running like crap?

PUT THAT EGR STUFF BACK ON. (Only take out smog stuff)

That's my only advice.

Have a good one and thank you all for good advice and knowledge

i think you did it wrong

my car is not tuned and it runs 100% perfect without egr/smog

the key to the egr is to plug all the old vac lines or just get rid of them too, and the let the egr plugged into it's electrical plug.

I'm having a hard time explaining it but that's a key part

I deleted it. The 332 code or what ever it is for egr shouldn't cause driveablity issues. I have no idea why your car was running like crap. But It shouldn't have.

i deleted it too but i unbolted the sensor and left it pluged in.....just the little sensor not the hole egr.

then you pull the little rod out about 1/2 way...this is what i have done for years.

you also need that fuel purge thing, acording to my manual a bad one will make the car run bad.

I did the same thing. Ran the two off the smog pump and t'd them together. capped the red and green...with spark plugs lol ughhhh need a better plug.....and stuffed them in the fender. Put a vaccum cap on the port on the manifold that i had the green one hooked to for awhile. Car runs fine no stumbles nothing. My intake already had the EGR block off plate on it and the chip i got also tuned out the EGR and Smog
