Did they reuse the old EGR stuff when your 347 went in?

I know it is too late now, but this is one of those "if it ain't broke" deals. I had a terrible time with mine - there's just not any room on that side.

Referring to the 2 photos above: Does anyone know what that tube/apparatus is called? It is bolted with one 13mm bolt to the top/back/passenger side of the engine? It then appears to continue across the top/back of the engine. At least “I believe so” as I had a little trouble tracing its path.

It’s hard to see on my phone but it’s probably the crossover tube for the thermactor system. Is your smog pump still hooked up?

Got the “other” nut off… i.e., the back half of the part I snapped off. Fortunately, my wife’s nephew lives only 1/2 mile away and he had a 1 1/16” & 1 1/4” open end wrenches I could borrow ++

Got the new EGR valve on (with gasket and sensor of course); cleaned up the EGR tube best I could and rewrapped it with DEI heat wrap (VatoZone) and of course replaced the valve that I inadvertently snapped in half while wrenching on the lower nut on the EGR tube! Reconnected sensor and rubber vacuum hose to EGR sensor. All buttoned up. Schew!!

Now just have to figure out the best way to get to the lower bolt on the IAC motor. Two spark plug wires running right in front of it, so not sure if I should just mark each, pull them off the distributor and pull them through? Or disconnect the CAI at the TB and gain (?) access to finagle an 8mm in there? Suggestions??

So yeah then that’s the crossover from the thermactor system. It’s bolted to the rear of the heads to push air into them.

I'm trying to remember how I got at the IAC when I changed mine. It was much more difficult than it should have been best I remember. I may have even just removed the TB altogether to get at it? It's been a minute, so I'm a little foggy on it.

I’m thinking your memory is not far off. I’m also thinking my spark plug wires were misrouted by the shop who recently R&R’d my plugs and wires. Two of which are currently running next to each other directly across the bolt head.

“If” memory serves, I recall a 1/4” ratcheting wrench with a long ass extension and an 8mm socket.
