Egr?

I have a mainly stock 95 5.0 with basic bolt on's. I still have the egr on it. My car idles like it's got a big cam in it. I was wondering if a stuck open egr can make it run like/idle like crap. Can I unplug it? I know I will probably get a cel. I found a company the makes plates and a cap for the header.

I just installed some bbk headers and i simply blocked off the headers with a stainless steal screw cap. I removed the aprox. 12" tube that connected the egr to the header and im going to cap off the egr as well...

I have LTs on my 94 and I just welded shut the pipe that was going down to the mid pipe. No biggie.

I'm also running a shorter belt.

And no, I haven't seen a cel.

From what I've heard if you just cap off the EGR it will throw a CEL, but taking out the smog pump will not.

I used some tape to hold the EGR plunger half way open and blocked off the intake. No CEL for me.

are you really wanting to remove the egr stuff or fix the surging idle?

When I unplugged my EGR, the car ran like crap. Plugged it back in... fixed.

i removed the tube, and put a penny in each cap and it is better. i need to remove the egr itself, but i dont have a plate to cover it.

if you can't find the block off plate get some flat steel and make your own. I did that and it took about 10 minutes

shut off o2 sensors??? i don't think that would help a car's drivability at all. That could pose potential problems, because the computer wouldn't
see changes in the a/f ratio, and would have the same amount of fuel going in, no matter how dense the air coming in is..

X2. I did that with a sharpie, drill, and a cutoff wheel. The metal was lying around, all i had in the project was my time. Still sealing with
