electric fans

my eletric fans wont kick on at all where do i need to start and can i run it to a switch ?

I believe you have a bad ccm Don't quote me on the name though. Yes you can use it with a manual switch, that's how I have mine. I'll search around see if I can find the how to. It's pretty straightforward though. Mount a switch wherever you want it. One wire goes to your ground on the battery the other goes to the plug that is mounted on the overflow bottle. Let me figure out what color the wire is (I believe it's a purple one). All you have to Do is splice into it, and can only function when the key is on

where is the ccrm and what does it look like i just switched the car on and the fan cut on and right back off but a few min ago i let the car idle till the temp was over half way and no fan to be found its got a 160 thermo in it

when you try to pull codes, your fan will kick on low then hi for a couple seconds each.
if your fan kicked on then the ccrm is probably good but not guaranteed
sometimes the fan motor itself is bad, it could be the connector at the motor also (sometimes they melt)
With a multimeter you can do a lot of troubleshooting and find the real problem without hacking into the cars wiring.

I had the same prob but my prob was a bad ground so i just cut the ground at the fan and ran it to the battery no probs in over a year now
