My handbrake is difficult to pull up, it feels like it is bent to the left a little, my dad has an 04 and his is the same but worse? Anyone else have this problem? How can I fix it? It's not really a big deal, it's just really annoying

i dont ever use my ebrake unless im parked uphill, just leave it in first.

however, when i first got the car i noticed a slight stiffness.

i was told to pump the brake up and down and it would tighten it up in the back, like self adjusting.

someone of you genius's correct me if im wrong, i know im an idiot ha.

but it seemed to work fine for me, but like i said, i dont really use the ebrake so im not sure how well it solved the problem, or if it made it worse.

i forgot to mention, it did make it easier to pull after pumping it some.

For parking it isnt a big deal, but i have a few friends who are into drifting,so i figured I would give it a shot. The stang has the power to get the rear out, but to do it the right way your supposed to clutch in, and rip the brake, if you use the gas it's harder to bring back smoother. So it wasn't going to well with it being so stiff. :dontknow: You mean to pump the brake pedal?

i mean hold in the button on the ebrake and lift it then drop it over and over.

after i did that a few times it loosened up.

if that doesnt work i dont see why a little wd40 in the area that the lever rotates would be bad.

someone correct me if im wrong.

and about drifting, ive wanted to try but im scared to mess up, and i cant afford tires lol

worlds top drifter guy uses a mustang which i thing is sick.
cant recall his name right now.

have you looked inside the console at the e-brake mechanism? the cable may be frayed and about to brake. or it may just need to be lubed. i think there was some kind of recall on the e-brake cable or a TSB on it

I was practicing in a biggg parking lot lol, if it's wet it puts alot less wear on the tires too. My friend is amazing at it, hopefully he'll be competing in a few amatuer events this year, as long as we can get his car ready. We always go to junkyards and get tires for real cheap, and we know some shops, that mount them up for free lol, so it isnt to bad. I know who your talking about, he got a new car, i went to a formula d event over the summer and it was sick :headbang:

I haven't takin it apart to check it out, I wasn't sure quite what was wrong so I didn't want to freeze for nothing lol. Thanks for the advice guys, I'll have to give it a shot tomarrow

good idea with the junkyard tires, never thought of that for burnouts and such :)

i may have to look into it and find a big lot to practice, because ive wanted to perfect it haha.

id say first try the pumping then just squeeze some wd40 through there if that doesnt work.

if its the cable, your looking at a little more work lol.

Lol yea I'm kinda really hoping the wd will take care of it.
Yea sometimes they'll give them to us for free if they have some that won't pass inspection. Lol, big lots are the way to go, just don't hang around for too long and keep an eye out for cameras.

There was a recall for our ebrakes many years ago. I remember mine being really tight and not going up very high at all. But it also wouldn't hold on a steep hill. Then I took it in for the recall... now it's very loose and goes way high up. It feels sloppy now too but at least it holds.

Cops hate anyone in sports cars, young or old, but love them at the same time, easy money to them. My E-brake never gets used. Whenever I use it, the bracket falls down(It somehow fell OFF of the car and is handing by a thread) so it scrapes the driveshaft whenever I use it and put it back down. But drifting? Man, That's soooooo Japanese. I bought a mustang to go fast in a str8 line!

my ebrake rarely gets used ha.

i had it on in my driveway this morning when i was letting my car warm up, because obviously it has to be in neutral, usually i just leave it in gear though ha.

Lol, yea it's not the most american thing. It's not really my choice of racing but if you've ever ridden with someone that's good at it it's alot of fun. So I gave it a shot. Drags are fun, but I also like autocross and road racing, a variety is always nice  Would ford still honor that recall?
