Not sure if this is entirely the right place to ask, but here goes....
When my hand heals up, I plan to attempt to clean what I can of my engine.
My question is, is this situation normal?
It doesn't leak anything...I can attest to this, I've sat underneath and had a neighbor rev the heck out of it...nothing.
I drive it around and always check just to make sure, always dry as a whistle.
But it looks like it does, plenty of sludge(dried) but still very mucky around the timing cover and the crank, and oil pan areas.
Now is this just a normal thing, or an idiot who couldn't put fluids in right?
Again it doesn't leak, but it sure looks like it either may have or is just mucky.
Mainly wondering if this is rather common, or if perhaps there is something going on that doesn't tend to appear within 10 minutes of shutdown. It's always dry the next day as well.
I am just curious as my 4.0 is about the same, and it doesn't leak either, but it's getting rather grimy in the same areas.
