Engine tick need help

there is this tick coming from the right side of my engine (looking out from drivers seat) IDK what it is. Some people have said lifter and others have told me timing belt but unfortunately school has started back up and this is the busiest time of the year for me at work so i have no time to get it to a mechanic to have it looked over/fixed because i can't be without a car and my grand prix is out of commission ATM. So what do you guys think is more likely and is either one an easy fix i could do myself with basic tools?

Car is a 95 GT.

I'd say lifter is sticking. Have you checked your oil lately?

Could be and exhaust leak from the exhaust manifold. No telling till you get a hose or stethescope(sp?) and track it down

i've had an exhaust leak that sounded like that. i loosened up the header to mid pipe and tightened them up again and checked all the header bolts and fixed the problem.. i also had a knock about 2 months after the new engine went in and i ran it down with a stethescope and it ended up being the tensioner, i got a new tensioner and a slightly shorter belt and took care of that. I freaked when i heard that knock coming from a brand new engine.

well i got under the car to see if the bolts were loose and they are covered in rust so i am just going to hand it over to a mechanic so he can just throw on new bolts and gaskets.

Honestly it is not that hard, at least it isnt that hard to do without a smog pump

Just FYI there are no timing belts in 5.0 or 4.6, its chain drivin
