Exhaust choice???

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum, just bought my first sn95, a 96 GT.

My question is what kind of exhaust should I run?

The car currently has longtubes w/catted h-pipe and a Flowmaster catback. I think it's just obnoxiously loud. I've had a foxbody with Flowmasters and an off-road h-pipe that wasn't this loud. I'm wondering if the longtubes are the cause?

Also the car is running an Allen supercharger so I need something that flows pretty well while at the same time having a mellow-er tone.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

It's the longtubes. Really the only thing to quiet it down would be some 50 series Flows? Not really sure.

I've been looking into the MAC pro chambers, a few posts where people quieted down their exhaust with them. Might start there and then swap out the catback if it's still too loud.

I've never heard a catted setup that was obnoxiously loud, especially with chambered mufflers. Are you sure the cats aren't gutted?

They may be. There's actually a rattling coming from the h-pipe and I think it's a piece of one of the cats that came loose. Probably from someone trying to gut them. The guy who had this car before me was a hack so I wouldn't be surprised.

I know a guy who actually lost a motor from a plugged cat under high boost.

Flowmaster 50's aren't that restrictive. They are huge though, since they are meant to go under SUV's and whatnot.

I had flows on my blown 97gt, I switched to regular magnaflows and it got more flow and was MUCH quieter.

yea my prochamber isn't that loud unless your getting on it and its o/r . also, you could try sticking a stock set of mufflers on there... they really aren't that restrictive.

I was looking at the Magnaflows, I might go that route. I listened to the exhaust clips on their site, they seem to still have a nice tone to them without being too loud.

Thanks for the input guys, now I just need it to get warm again so I can start working on this thing...
