Hey everybody,
i got a question about my 2000 gt... a local shop can sell me a true X-pipe with magnaflow catback for 1100ish or i can get exhaust from another shop for 750ish with a catted X-pipe and magnaflow or flowmaster mufflers.
Would the catted X-pipe and performance mufflers sound good together? or should i just bite the bullet and get the true X and the magnaflow catback? What do you guys think?
any input is appreciated

WTF is a "true" x-pipe?

The catted pipe will sound fine, that's what I'd go with. That extra $350 could buy something else.

1100 seems like a lot, what exactly are you lookin at?

a True x pipe is the kind of x pipe magnaflow, upr, pypes, etc make, it's actually makes an X. Untrue X pipes are like Bassani, BBK, etc. where it's more like an X H combo.

i think you would be better buying online. Like Onyx said, 1100 does seem really high. You could get a UPR x-pipe and a mac catback for around $600 which sounds great. I would stay away from the flowmasters because after awhile the drone really starts to get to you. I had flowmasters and then swapped them out for a mac catback and it tosses all the sound through the rear instead of having the droning noise in the cabin. Also, the thing with the "true x pipe" is that alot of companies claim to have the true or original x-pipe, but its all personal preference. Before you go and buy, look on youtube for soundclips of various mustangs with different exhaust setups to make your decision. Goodluck

To give you a little perspective I am running a Bassani catback and a Mac Prochamber and total it cost me $590. If you have the tools and a little know-how install is not too difficult, but even if you don't want to install it buy the stuff you want online and then bring it to have it installed.

Edit: you are getting totally boned on install, it should take a shop about 20 minutes TOPS to install a midpipe. I'd look around for a different installer.

right
for instance, my upr catted mid and mac catback cost me around the same. It took me about 2 hours to remove the old mid and install the new one due to bolt problems, then about 45 minutes to drop and install a new catback.

Installation is way too high. I had some exhaust work done on my car for various things, one trip was welding my Flowmasters to my H-Piper (the connector dragged and broke off) and was $50. Then I had new hangears put on to pull the whole thing up, which was 3 hangars and some weld work and that was only $60. Both times took them awhile because they were fabbing and what not

alright, i think ill start looking for prices online. Either MAC or Borla stingers sound the best to me on youtube. then ill pick out a midpipe. on the same topic, im wondering if im getting screwed over on some gears i was looking to get installed from them. Only one of the two shops would install gears. They said $240 for FRPP and $290 for motive gears, they wanted $500 for install. thanks for the info
