I have acquired an exhaust leak on my header on the passenger side bank and every exhaust shop out here swears that they have to lift the motor partly out and quoted me $400. Forget that. Any advice as to getting that bank? Pretty tight fit down there... Oh BBK Shorty headers on a '96 GT by the way.

CHECK YOUR SPARKPLUGS!!! Lol I know it sounds insane but believe me.. I had what I thought was a spark plug then next thing I know I was tore down to the block replacing heads.. Never hurts to start there on those 4.6's when you develop an "exhaust leak" lol

Thanks man. I will definitely check that out. Except the exhaust shop noted a bolt missing to the header. Previous owner must have been lazy and couldn't get to it and thought, it'll be ok without these little guys...". FML and lazy people man...

Well simple is a very lose term and will depend on your ability and sometimes perseverance lol. But when it comes down to it yeah its not to bad Ive done a few header swaps on mod motors and didnt really see it being a tough project.

What about letting the motor down instead of jacking it up? Wouldn't that work a little easier?

You can't let it down. its already as low as it can go.

You have to create a angle so it can be accessed thus why you lift it. i can already guess which bolt it is too. theres only few that can't be touched. unless you have a K member in there

Willis_98GT I'm just going to pull the whole motor and fix everything that is wrong. Like my A/C lines that sit on my BBK's.

If you're taking it out, look into some nasty longtubes :) and other badass mods.

When i did my longtubes i made it 50ft down the road before it ate my ac lines. I just fabbed up a small bracket that holds the lines against the passenger shock pillar

If I can find some locally, I totally will. I am ordering my SCT and Accufab 75mm TB this week though. I'm also pulling the motor this week. So, if I can find some extremely cheap. I'd love to go long tube.
