You notice the difference more with turbo cars than you do supercharged simply because turbo setups hurt much more from any restriction whatsoever. But there is a gain with straight through designs, even if it isn't a big SOTP difference

I don't doubt it, but I had him by about 150 rwhp, and still didn't notice it. I wouldn't let it be a factor in my decision.

OLD vid of my car...

everyone knows my LM1's that are dumped. hence SLP is my vote.

P.S. Jr is right, hes been s/c'd before and can tell you whether or not there is a differnce. Hell even i couldnt feel a difference, and when youve only got 220 maybe at the wheels, you can feel 5-10 HP. i felt nothing

you definitely get what you pay for.

I would only put magnaflow, bassani, or borla. I don't like strait thru mufflers too much cause they tend to get rid of alot of tone.

All three of those are effectively straight through designs. Bassani is a hybrid straight-through/chambered design, basically a chamber, two perforated tubes and an end chamber, most Borla designs are straight through as are Magnaflows

they should totally make a modifiable exhaust muffler. chambered when you want it then unbolt it and take the baffles out. how cool would that be.

SLPs sound like shit.

I have always loved the regular Magnaflow catback exhaust because I
like a somewhat quiet exhaust and loud when you want it.
The stainless steel construction of the Magnaflow catback exhaust
is of very good quality too.

I guess ill go with a chambered muffler and avoid sounding like a tractor.

I dont know what the gain would be with a chambered vs straight through but if it was worth .1 at the track than it would be worth it to me.

I'd be interested to see myself, but I really didn't feel it, and I'd notice a tenth.

Flowmaster marketing: "The sound of American performance"...they didn't say you actually get any :p

Really the LM1s and Magnapacks I'd consider to be closer to a chambered design than a straight through as far as sound goes. Flowmasters or similar chambered style mufflers are just big resonators with baffles placed to generate phase cancellation. They both have that metallic tinny sound to them due to it, the LM1s and Packs just have a higher pitch and are louder due to the smaller casing. They do have the benefit of no flow-hindering baffles as well as being made out of stainless instead of the recycled beer cans or whatever flowmaster uses (how do they rot out in a year in GEORGIA???)

Borlas, Magnaflow (not Magnapacks), Bassani, Dynomax Ultra-Flos are all good mufflers that won't sound like a tractor, most are really pretty mellow. Most of them flow about 3x what a chambered muffler would for the same pipe size, whether that's helpful or not depends on whether the muffler itself is a restriction at your power level, as well as your getting the a/f dialed back in due to it running leaner.

That's what your dad called a "turbo" inside the cheese grater part is fiberglass sound deadening.

I think Flowtech or something, they are called Warlocks, have a cutout you remove with three wing nut's, kind of a pita, IMO.

Problem is the Warlocks flow like crap anytime they're not opened up, which is the same as straight pipe basically. Not something to bum around town in unless you like paying tickets.

might aswell just get a set of glasspacks for half the price :p

if you havent looked into dynomax bullits you should check them out, ive heard them on 3 cars or so and they sound pretty good. SLP sounds extremly slappy (distorted) if anyone knows what i mean, but it could have been the cars i heard them on, who knows it might sound better on a SC'd car. any bolt on catback should suffice if your current exhaust is messed up though.
