How much would it @ a cost exhaust shop usually if:

I cut off both exhaust tips and put some turn downs onto my muffler?

I can supply two cheap turn downs myself. So just a price for labor.

And

What if they supply the parts (turn down) +labor.

Thanks

Well, I'm not sure about the cost of turn downs, but I got tailpipes welded on in a very bad spot for $20. I cut my tailpipes off with a sawzall lol.

I might do this lol.

One question. Did you have to cut the pipes two times to get the piping over the bend of the rear axle?? Thats what im worried about. I do want to re-use the section i get cut off whenever i want tail pipes again.

I just cut it directly behind the muffler. It all went over the axle with no problem. Just make sure the axle is hanging down.

Did you install turn downs (clamp on) or just run it right out the muffler?

Right now i'm just running it straight out of the muffler because the cost of turns downs was stupid high for just a bent piece of 2.5" pipe. Sometime soon i'm going to weld on a home made dump though.

Does it sound different without the tailpipes and running straight out? Louder? Deeper? Quieter?

Sounds like a beast(loud, rumbly, sets off car alarms)... and drones like a mofo with 3.73's on the highway.

Well was it loud before you cut off the tips or somewhat quiet.

Sorry for all the questions lol

i just got clamp on turndowns for my new slp mufflers.
the shop charged me $100 for the welding of the mufflers, and said it would be safer if the turndowns were welded on as well instead of being held on by a bolt.
fortunately, they welded the turndowns at no extra charge :p

i'm sure you can get them welded on for less than $50 though.

Having test drove a Cobra with dumps before I bought my GT, I'd never do it, deafeningly droning at freeway speeds. Forget about conversations.

Yeah, it was fairly loud, but not near as loud as it is now. And Ferocious, $100 is ridiculous lol...

If I have time tomorrow i'll take a video of my exhaust for you. I think I have my previous setup somewhere on my computer too.

I got it done for $20, both sides, and the welds were directly over the top of the axle lol.

Wow, this car is loud like you said it would be. I didn't get the turn downs.. I just cut the tail pipes off and its exiting at the end of the muffler. (low on money) I might do turn downs soon. I set off 1 alarm for the 1st time since i owned this car while just cruising down the street.

Now im worried. I drive this car in rain.. alittle salt and snow. Now it just seems so easy for water/ salt to collect inside my muffler and rust them out.

Also, is it okay for the gas tank when the exhaust to exiting right @ the muffler with no turn down.

and my head hurts alittle bit from the noise??? .. maybe its because i haven't ate since 11am lol well i hope!!

I don't have to worry about salt etc down here, plus I'm not concerned about my mufflers since I want to replace them eventually.

As far as it hitting the gas tank... I'd say it's not the greatest thing in the world, but in winter it shouldn't harm anything. In the summer you might get vapor lock though. I've been driving around without turndowns for a few weeks now and my tank's still there haha. Just get some turn downs sometime in the nearish future.

Aaand yes, you might get headaches. I know when I went on a 2.5 hour trip a couple weeks ago it really wore me out.

Im trying to think positive about the ache. The headache is from me not eatting... not the exhaust
