Remind me of my truck. Got a free oil change (first and last time I'll let someone touch my vehicle) and when i tried to take the thing off it wouldnt budge. 6 hours later, hand sliced opened and broken filter wrench it finally came off.

The guy I got the car from last year said he'd just changed the oil. I only put like 2000 miles on it last summer, so I didn't mess with it last season. Figured I would change the oil since it was 60 degrees today and that was the result. **** fram. I'd NEVER torque down my oil filter that damn tight. ****ing idiots.

Just to let you know you should never, ever do that to get a filter off for a few reasons

1: It just leaves you less area to grab onto to get it off
2: If you aren't successful in removing it then you are stuck with a disabled car vs. just leaving the old one on and refilling with oil then driving to a shop to remove
3: You risk damaging the threads on the filter adapter itself

Of course all this info was shared with me during a tech class right after we all admitted (instructor included) to having done that before

I hate "undoing" other people's stupidity. I tried to get it off by hand. No luck. I tried to use an oil filter wrench, but the one I had was too small and fits on the FL400S filters that my old V6, the wife's escort and my ranger all use, but wouldn't fit the FL820S filters that the GTs and Cobras use. So I opted for the "screwdriver" method, which I've used in the past on other vehicles and it's worked... but it ultimately failed here. In this case, I removed the guts. I stuck a screwdriver in the small holes around the threaded center hole and with a hammer drove the base of the filter around enough to break the bond and it finally came off.

I put some oil around the gasket of the new Motorcraft filter and hand tightened it on. It'll be good for next time.

Just fyi they make a bigger filter wrench lol
I has both sizes.

But damn that sucks
Reminds me of when a shop tightened my lugs so tight the key would snap when I tries to take them off.

Had to get them stripped off

Yeah my Mustangs was like that too. I was like really dude lol. But a good ol screw driver all the way through proved to work quite well. Only hand tight needed I hate those damn oil filter wrenches that's just asking for trouble. Our big box truck has the fuel filter stuck on it. I've twisted it so hard I almost snapped the lines. People are idiots who put these on lol I swear...
