lol, that's why I don't mess with heads...
if I were to grab heads id have to be from a explorer that was obviously in a wreck and low miles and clean engine, all of which I have yet to see..

Good luck finding a 5.0 with a decent intake and cylinder heads that is getting scrapped with low mileage...

I would much rather take chances on an Explorer 5.0 than a 5.0 in a Mustang/Tbird/Crown Vic.

Mustangs and Tbirds are all going to be many owner cars that were abused at some point, probably with high mileage. Crown Vics might not be HOs and they are going to be high mileage/many owner/taxi/police cars that probably need a new engine.

Explorers get rolled by soccer moms that don't know how to check the tire pressure of their Firestone ATs. They might even have regular maintenance if she knows where Jiffylube is.

Explorer motors are cool. Maybe not as cool for an SN95 as for a light weight Fox body but still cool.

This thread makes me wish that someone would buy my already rebuilt GT40 heads. I've got over $1000 into them and just want to get half of it back.

Well, the machine shop kinda ****ed me. It wasn't supposed to go over $500. Things got complicated when the machine shop owner had a lawyer contact me.

The original intent was that they were going onto a built 306 shortblock... Shortblock turned out to be a dud. I wanted a stock-ish engine back in my car. So rebuilding the heads WAS the right thing to do. Needless to say, I wing ever go back to that shop.

Mind you, this is the same shop that didn't bother to tell me that the heads I had on my 347 were junk, but they worked on them anyway and passed it off as my fault.

Price on a explorer intake set up shipped to 72104 and will the explorer upper work on an older 94/95 GT40 lower? I want to swap off my tubular upper for the explorer upper before I sell the car..

If you have a weekend, call some junkyards or go and pick one up. They should be 30-60 dollars used just for the upper. Should fit exactly where a tubular gt40 upper was.
