I figured I put all my questions in one thread so here they are.

First, is there any difference in the instrument cluster in an auto verses manual. I noticed that my car has a light that says OD off which is overdrive off obviously. Did ford put all the same clusters in the 94-95 and then just not use that light in the manual or was it a different cluster?

Also is there any difference in the shifter bezel in an auto verse manual car?

and my last question is would an auto computer cause a car with a manual trans swap to hang for like 2 secs when you shift or is that most likely the IAC valve.

Thanks for your help.
Also on the first question I need you to be really specific. If ford did use the same clusters on the manual and auto, was the bulb for the OD off missing or is there no OD off symbol all together. Im trying to make the trans swap completely undetected.

to the best of my knowledge 1) there is no difference in the clusters, i think there is a bulb in factory 5 spd cars,
but no wires running to it, therefore it never lights up.
2) yes there is a difference in the bezels, the 5 spd is a bezel with the leather shift boot attached, whereas the auto
is a bezel with a plastic "cover" on top of that. you should need a different shifter bezel.
3) i believe the computers are closely the same, the harnesses are different. I had bought my car "converted" to 5 spd, but
the guy cut and spliced the auto harness into a 5 spd. one, i had that all switched out for a true 5 spd harness, but i thought that
the computers themselves were the same.
As far as the "2 sec. hang", no the swapped computers or harnesses.... etc. would not cause a hanging, you are correct in possibly
IAC or something to that nature.

Thanks for the info. Now when you talk about this 5 speed harness, are we talking about the computer wiring harness or the trans wiring harness. Im a little confused on that one. Is it hard to swap it out for a 5 speed harness?

actually the shifter bezels are the exact same and interchangeable. Some do have rubber on the bottom of them and some have foam but that is the only difference I have ever seen, other than 98's bezels not having the little window for the cig lighter. The bezels themselves will fit either auto's or manuals.

Everything above is correct. HOWEVER, going from an Auto to a 5speed, you should swap ECU's. You may get a CEL and or poor driveability due to the fact that the ECU is looking for an Electronically controled transmission....to control....no tranny, you got problems...like it THINKS it should be shifting but you're still hanging in a gear or vice versa. Solution is a 5 speed ECU or tune it. The bezel are the same between the two, only diff is one has a boot and the other has a automatic pattern in the bezel....if you pop the center piece out of the automatic's bezel and installed a shifter boot, you're good.
