So i been pondering this for a while. I have 3 choices to pick for my 1st mod and i cant decide.

1. Livernois PI INTAKE (Will be livernois this time around because of NO RTV use.. NO Ifs.. ands... or buts)

2. O / R Xpipe

3. Catback

My choice: PI INTAKE as 1st mod. :headbang:

Why:
1. I hate how the exhaust sounds once you get above 4000RPM's... it sounds suffocated even with the stock exhaust.

2. I still own a Mac catted H and a broken o/r H pipe. (I can get the o/r hpipe welded fixed if i get sick of the stock exhaust before i get the o/r X)

3. I just feel like i need to acomplish the pi intake swap without failure (with the help of a friend) :angel4: (the last on my list of "why")

What would yours be? This car is 100% stock.. so think as you just brought a brand new 96-98 nonpi GT in year 2010.

My budget is of course $500 since the livernois kit is $500 http://www.livernoismotorsports.com/product.phtml?p=457

and im still saving for the car :notworthy:

Are you sure you want to go down this road again?
I'd try and hold off as long as you can and find a Cobra, any one from 94-98.

Im not sure what road your talking about? All i want is a v8 mustang.. doesn't matter what. Long as its a vert+v8+5speed+96-98 ill be happy. I dont have much time to waste (my fault) So its the GT again unless theres is a cobra for under 5K.. which i doubt. Im not spending above 4600 for this car... thats GT range money. My car was 99% stock anyway (just exhaust done) so its not like i went down this road before.. didnt even get to start engine mods.

Anyway... back topic: :icon_salut:

Considering what happened to your old GT, I'd do the PI intake if I were you. Get some revenge for your old car haha.

For me, there are three mods that I've done that I absolutely loved on my 98 and would carry through I ever get to add another to the stable. Stainless bassani catted X (much lighter than stock H, little more sound, more tq and hp through the range). Next up would be suspension - I hated the stock ride height, the brake dive and non-sporty handling in the twisties in the stock springs and struts/shocks. Lastly for me would be PI Cams+intake for an excellent bang for the buck power improvement combo. Believe it or not, for me gears would be down there unless it came with 2:73s, then it might just get top billing. Mine came with the optional 3:27s, and they "lasted" me just fine for a bunch of years actually.

:tongue3: @ the borla fans in here. Meh, ill pass on borla... its not my taste one bit.

The 1st mod to my 97GT was a mac catback.

This 98GT will get a flowmaster catback+bbk o/r X whenever the time is right.

Borla= bleh.. not my type of tone.. i need some tiny rasp sounding chamber type mufflers ( mac, flowmasters, spintech or bassani)
While borla sounds NICE when its not on my car.. its just to STRAIGHT hot rod 1980 muscle sounding to me. Flame me for this, but i like the unique twist the mufflers i listed above give... muscle with a teaspoon of uniqueness.

Gears might be a nice 4-5th mod i think.

I would do the intake first because if you dont it WILL end up splitting, just a matter of time

After that is done then focus on the exhaust

My first mod is always stiffening up the chassis with SFC's & a strut tower brace. Then I work toward the suspension & brake upgrades. Has worked well for me.

In all seriousness, I'm gonna be blunt.. Get the car first, then start thinking about your mods.

i waited a few years to do gears and after I did it i was like wow i can't believe i waited this long to do gears. Definitely should be one of the first mods imo, makes the car so much more fun.
