So i went down to cecil tonight and ran my stang. It was the first time I was ever at a track, I thought I did pretty good. My best time was 14.70, but my 60 foot was pretty bad, it was 2.26. Next time I'm gonna work on the 60' and see how close i can get to 14.5. My car is stock minus exhaust. Is 14.5 out of reach for a stock 5.0, from what I've heard they should only have been runnin 15 flat? :dontknow: not that I'm complaining lol, I also seen one of the members cars on here but I don't know his s/n.

That's good to hear lol, it was running kind of hot so I think before I go back I'm gonna hard wire the fan so i can leave it on to cool down a little more. To ice the intake should I use an ice pouch? I dont want to put ice in a bag in case it burns through and drips all over the track lol.

Yea it's dissapointing  I would get 3.73's and put them in if it wasn't so risky, so to pay someone else another 400-500 dollars is rediculous. So it may have to wait until I get the balls to do it, or have more money. I've been around cars for a while, but if shops are messing gear install's up then it makes me wonder...

you can use a bag of ice just put a towel on the top of the intake then the bag wont get hot enough to melt. Once the intake cools down some you can put the bag directly on the intake. Any water that does drip down all burns off before you get to the line anyway.

Get your 60' down more and you should get your 14.5's Better tires will help w/ that.

cool thanks!! I'm excited to go back. I really need to work on my launch, it's easy to think what you have to do, but once your out there my mind blanks out, at least it did, maybe because it was the first time though. My neighbor has a pretty badass sn so he goes down pretty often. I'm not sure what his best time was but i watched him put down a 11.7 pretty easily. Hopefully next weekend we'll head back down.

When your at the line look at where the most rubber is laid down. That's where you want to be you will get the most grip there. Don't worry about your reaction time and dont worry about the car beside you. Just blank everything out and concentrate on your RPM and properly letting out the clutch when you take off. If you let it out to fast or dump it you will spin. The harder you are able to launch depends on what kind of tires you have but for what you have now just practice on what RPM to leave at and when to fully engage the throttle after the clutch is all the way out. It takes practice getting that down but after awhile it becomes easier.
