Well since my(our cars) dont have tire roasting power, i put it down as much as possible. I usually keep it to the floor in first until I hit redline(55-60mph/5700-5800rpm). But after you go through a tank of gas and you only get 180miles/tank you will keep that foot a little lighter, lol

I had a 1995 for a year and a half in high school and it was foot to the floor 95% of the time. Over all that time the only thing that i had to replace was the water pump. MY 94 SVT i have had for almost two years now and i drive the hell out of the car unless i cant afford the gas consumption!!! Car still pulls awesome with no problems yet!!

HA 180 miles to a tank I normally get 12.5mpg.

To the OP i run mine hard i don't see the sense in owning a car like this if you don't put it to use. I am however starting a back up motor build. I have somewhere around 180-185 on the clock. Luckily i knew the Previous Owner and his Dad kept the car up mechanically, visually that's another story.

IDK. It takes like 13 gallons to fill my tank. So if its the same for your car you would be getting like 13.5 MPG. I get 10-12 MPG running around town where i live. But i wouldnt trade it for something with better MPG. I bought the car to have fun in not just transportation. So thats what i do!! And i love beating up on rice!!

How many gallons do you normally top off with. I normally will get 170 and when i top it off it's usually about 13.7 gallons.

I do indeed. I put a lot of stress on my car with the way I drive it. And both my 95 and my current 94 have held up very well

If you take care of the cars, they can handle the abuse. Regular maintence plays a big role in this.

So yea, it can handle whatever just so long as you change your oil and whatnot...

Very true. I change my oil evry 2500 miles. And give it the maintance it needs to hold together strongly.

ah. so if you replace things when they go bad, and do you oil.. things will last?

i suppose peoples cars crap out from bad launches and general abuse more than just driving them hard

Take care of it and do the recommended mait on it. You will have a car that last if you do My old 95 F150 had 300k on the original bottom end with shaved/ported heads, nasty cam, and a ported upper and lower intake. It still ran fine and only leaked about 1/4 of a Quart every 3,000 miles.

I have heard regualr maintanence called preventative maintanence. which i think i a good way of thinking of it. If you do the normal maintanence and take car of your car it'll prevent things from going wrong.

Now if some dumb *** does the maintanence but goes out and drives it way too hard. Like revving it way to high for extended periods of time or neutral dropping an auto tranny etc, etc. That wont last but thats just cuz that type of abuse is pretty hard to prevent things from going wrong with factory stuff

I honestly never get on more than once-twice a tank really. Not worth the danger in the city/tickets. I leave the hard driving for the track and have yet to screw anything up on the 1/4 mile...
