Flows going bye bye - want MAC or Spintech

Alright guys... I'm getting really tired of my American Thunder catback system on my '95 GT. I bought it back in February 2010. It is part number 17112 which is the plain catback; no stainless tips or anything. Just 2.5" aluminized steel pipes. I bought it because the car had no exhaust past the stock catted H-pipe and it was cheap ($289 shipped). The fitment is horrible. The flow tubes hardly have any bends in them and I had to rotate the passenger side muffler almost to 60? to keep it from hitting by the torque box. It scrapes on everything and the passenger side tailpipe hits the front side of the axle and the frame rail on the body. I have fought and fought with this thing for over a year but no matter how much I adjust it and lock it down, it still hits somewhere. It sounds pretty good with my O/R x-pipe but its time to move up.

Now, I don't have $500 to spend on a Bassani or Borla catback (I wish LOL). I've heard the MAC catback sounds pretty mean and I can get it for $313 shipped. I am also interested in Spintech exhaust because its something different. I was looking at the Sportsman catback. I'd like to be heard but not enough to be hassled by the popo (learned the hard way with LM1s on my Cobra.... never again!). I also live in an apartment complex so nothing too extreme. Would the Sportsmans sound OK with my O/R X or should I go with the Prostreets? I've watched a couple dozen vids but its hard to get a good idea on how it would sound.

What do you guys think? Any fitment issues with the MAC system? I have their shorty headers and they fit really well. What says you, my SN95 brethren?

Bassani catback for $450.

Bassani catbacks are $468.00 brand new shipped to your door.

Yeah i was about to say that. I would rather buy a brand new unit then a used one for 18 bucks difference.

I suggest Bassani BX or Dynomax Ultraflo with a O/R or Catted Midpipe

Wow! I appreciate the replies... I got an email back from Spintech. The Sportsman catback with tail pipes and shipping is $550. That's way more than I was expecting. I can buy a Magnaflow stainless catback (or Magnapack) for $414 shipped. I can get a Bassani BX catback for $449 shipped. So many other choices for that price...

I was also looking at dumped MACs but I have a Saleen rear bumper with exhaust cutouts. I do have an OEM rear bumper cover from a 97 GT, but it needs a little work and paint. I would definitely fix it up before putting dumps on my car.

How much do you think a custom job would cost if I just bought Pro Streets and had the rest fabbed up? Surely it would be less than $450? Is there any other options around $300-$350?

So many choices :dontknow: :tard:

Anybody heard of Aero exhaust? I found some Aero Turbine mufflers that sound pretty good. Just thinking of something different...

Thats what i did. I bought the prostreets and then got some flowmaster tailpipes with stainless tips. Just pick up the prostreets and look on the forums or classifieds for some goood tailpipes but its all up to what you want really.

Any fitment issues with the Flowmaster tail pipes? The ones on my catback fit terrible. I take it yours has 2.5" tips?

I'm really leaning towards buying the Pro Streets and having some tail pipes fabbed up or buying some tail pipes...
