Hey guys so I have a question about some of these motors...I'm interested in either a 331 or a 347 long block through them...are their kits any good? what kind of setup should I go with for my road course track setup if I were to go with one? any ideas etc would be helpful. I can't afford one of the dart blocks etc so it would have to be the liberator with the remanned block. I don't know a ton about motors so help me out! thanks! just need some ideas!

I've bought a few engines from them they use quality parts like scat and probe arp hardware through out. I wouldn't hesitate if I were you, your cars more track oriented now ? A high compression high revving stroker would be awesome

yes it is...I'm thinking for the price of one of the liberator long blocks...I would have a really good setup and would love a high revving motor for track finally. haha. ok so heres another question...if you had to choose for my setup....331 or 347? what pistons etc would you go with via their stuff??

Go with the 331. I have a buddy that ran a 347 for a couple of years, mostly drag racing. A little street on cruises and shows. Anyway, that 347 just killed itself. The high RPMs hammered the bearings after relatively low miles. The 347s make great power, but I don't think they handle the abuse very well. Specialy road course stuff, my junk lives at 5000+ 90% of the time.

If you want cubes, go with a 351 based setup.

My 347 is from Fordstrokers, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Woody (the owner) is a great guy who really knows his stuff and his wife is very nice to deal with on the ordering side of things, I had a 45 min or so conversation with Woody to iron out the details of what I wanted and he was very friendly and willing to offer advice. I waited 9 weeks for mine to show up, but that's because there was a high demand for their stuff, not sure what the wait time is now, I bought mine 3 years ago but I would imagine it is the same or more. They will tell you how long the wait will be before you place an order.

The total for mine with every option they offered minus the cam (I had a cam already that I wanted to use, sent it to them to put in when they built the motor) was $2701 plus freight shipping. IMO it's a great price for what you get. Slap on an oil pan, accessories, heads, valvetrain, valve covers, intake and go. I have never once heard a complaint about them or their motors.

yeah that's what I'm leaning towards...the 331 should make almost as much power as a 347 anyways...and it does rev a little better than just our plane old 302's right? haha. I definitely do want something that can handle rpms and not slowly destroy itself...especially seeing as we sustain some high rpms at times on some tracks. i noticed right away at thunderhill...just like you said rich....she was at 5k plus most of the time...so it definitely needs to handle some abuse. what kind of revs/powerband would I be looking at with a well built 331 through these guys?

And for any questions you have about specific choices like pistons and such, I would recommend just giving Woody a call and tell him what you're looking for, what kind of driving the car will see, etc. He can recommend to you what options will work best.

that's awesome to hear. only difference is I am leaning towards a long block through them actually. to keep things a bit easier on my said. wouldn't mind just getting it and tossing it in the car, slapping and intake and a few other odds and ends on it and going to the track!

Oh, sorry I didn't see you were looking at a long block. Either way, the quality will be top notch. I would definitely call him about it if you're looking at buying a long block from them, he can set you up with parts that will all get along great for open tracking, sustained RPM's etc. Your cam choice and valvetrain are what will become important for the RPM range. They offer custom cams for their motors, so they can set you up with pretty much any powerband you want, then have the correct valvetrain parts to compliment the cam.

Wait time was at 5 months when I ordered my dart block back a few months ago. Im sure its still around the same. I would suggest paying the extra for a dart block as thats a bit much $ to end up with a stroked stock block and no room for growth IMO. It be a kick in the nuts if you ever wanted more power down the road but were pressed by the limits of the stock block you just payed $3000 for.

I wish I would have done this, as I've said before I have already outgrown my block. We even had to pull timing on the big end to keep the power level down to a point where it would let the block live. :(

Thing about this is I'm not really planning on boosting the car or anything of that nature with the application I will be using this car for the power the 331 would be makeing would be more than enough for what I'm wanting to do with the car. If I want more power someday....I already know I will want to get a different car anyways....and with the fact that by the time I'm done with the long block I would order through them it'll end up being close to 7k as is...I'm not sure I have 10k to drop into a motor. I will keep it in mind but should the stock block through them handle the power and things I'm planning on doing with it just fine? I guess woody would be able to help answer these questions.

Yea when I ordered my long block it was around 10k because I went dart based because I knew from the start I'd be spraying it. My wait time was similar to opals and we ordered 2 engines at the same time. That was a couple summers ago now . I ordered another and it took about 3 months. I would get a custom grind cam from them as well

$7000 for a 350hp longblock is crazy. A $1500 vortech will net you the same and leave $5000 in your pocket.

I bought my engine from Fordstrokers, I haven't received it yet, they are supposed to have it delivered the first week of March. So I cannot say anything about the engine yet, but I will tell you that Woody and Nicole have been amazing to work with, great communication. The explained exactly what they were doing, I have added parts during the build and they are very organized. I am having the cam done at FTI, Ed Curtis said that he loves working with them and sends them a lot of his cams. I cannot wait to get it and I will let you know once I get it, and post a few pics! Hope this helps. This was my first engine that I ordered brand new, and Woody never had any issues with talking to me on the phone, I never felt rushed!
