I had both for about two years. My 95 was the DD and my 93 coupe was the toy. I actually don't mind the interior and kind of miss it. There's something about a Fox that, at least for me, keeps me wanting to go back. I love my 95 and probably won't get rid of it, but once I have space for another car I will get another Fox.

Decent cars and thanks, but I wouldn't buy any of them. No 'verts, no 4-eyes, no LX cars, and I'd never touch a car that's been hacked with a carb. Plus they are all modded.

Where are the bone stock GTs??

EDIT: One thing swaying me away from doing this is that I know what I have with my Stang, and I have a pretty good chunk of money into it already (starter, ebrake cables (didn't really need them but I was tired of yanking that ebrake handle so high), four brand new Yokohamas and an alignment (tires are always so damn expensive), belt, lug stud, new headlights/OEM Ford corners, Lloyd's floormats, Lloyd's trunkmat, new rack bushings, etc.) and before I could sell it I need to figure out what the F is clunking in the suspension and fix it. Overall, aside from the starter which I replaced at the first sign of trouble rather than waiting for it to break, and whatever is going on in the suspension, it's been a great car and it's Motorcraft down to the battery.

Downside is that I know that in the next 6-12 months it will need brakes, shocks/struts, and a general tune up since the plugs/wires are original let alone anything that needs to be repaired. At some point during my planned ownership it will maybe also need a clutch replacement (just given the 87k miles).

Perhaps it's foolish to expect any 20+ year old car to be a reliable DD, given what it takes even to keep the unmolested one I have in top shape?

The repairs you have coming are all straightforward and pretty inexpensive. I don't know what you run for suspension but Gabriel Ultras are great and inexpensive shocks/struts for stock suspension (me). If I had a nickel for how many times I was in your position and made the wrong call (sold the car) I would be wealthy. Keep what you have and your thinking that a 20 year old car wouldn't make a good DD is pretty accurate.

ok my take.

I started off with an 84 notchback original 5.0. It was a blast. 14" wheel swith hubcaps..Nearly killed myself first test drive. Loved that car. I ended up turning it into a monster..full drag monster

Next I picked up an 87 cougar xr7 which I still own to this day. Currently a turbo v8. I was way impressed with the structural integrity of this car compared to the fox stangs. Set it up for handeling. Currently sports a full griggs suspension setup and coil overs. Still drives nice. Nice and comfy still sporting original seats which are still MINT. Favorite fox car by far

Then I picked up my 87 fox vert. Konis, eibachs, poly, subframes....Car drove like a tank and flexed still considerably with bracing and subframes. I think all fox verts need through floor subframes. ANYWAY just made this a mild 300rwhp DD and absolutely loved the car. It never pretended to be anything it wasnt. everything seemed to fit together well. Dash, seats, door panels. Drove it for 11 years..recently sold it. Car handles liek it was on rails but like I said. Rough like a tank..BUT FUN!!!!!!

Now my recent car. 1995 GT vert. Was bone stock when I got it. Honestly I wasnt going to buy it..I have to many cars already..But for $1500!!! I was jonesing for a convertable......At first though I hated it. EVERYTHING is plastic. The seats just dont feel right, the dash just feels wrong. The shifter...WHY IS THE SHIFTER IN THE DASH..If it were a manual it drive me crazy... Compareing it to my 1994 SC (which isnt fair) it feels as though the mustang has an extremely cheap imitation SC interior..Seriously. Where I was impressed however was the ride quality. It was comparable to my xr7 when it was stock. It definitely had less flex than my fox vert even with the subframes. The car feels much more solid. Its expected afterall it is a refined fox chasis. Im finding issues with getting over all the plastic but I think once I get some good seats in here I'll be ok

In the end however I do like my fox vert better. Lack of insulation gave me a more intimate relationship to the road. Everything seemed to flow well. The SN95 just feels different. Im beginning to like it but it just seems like a bunch of parst thrown together that dont flow so well. Im not saying teh fox had better parts..Its just that they all worked together well and teh car knew what it was...Seems the sn95 had an identity crisis with things value enfineered out. Wasnt much to value engineer out of a fox stang! For a daily driver you can go either way. The sn95 will however be more "refined" whereas I dont think youll have much more fun than with a fox

I can't find anything...best I can find is a maroon (yuck) '91 on red interior (yuck) with an auto (the AOD sucks lets face it) and 83k miles (rather be sub-50k) for $6k.

I bought a new 86 GT back in the day. Now I have the 95. If I were to build a race only car I'd choose the fox. For a street cruizer the SN95 is a way better handling, more technologically advanced and in my opinion better looking car. Different strokes.

Ive been looking into some Foxs a bit lately as well. I highly doubt you will find exactly what you want. It could be a daily driver, but only if you want a fun/fast/slighty uncomfortable/bad gas mileage daily driver. Like if your work is just a few blocks away from home it would be perfect.

Im looking for an 88-92, Lx. I dont like all the extra plastic added to the GT.

I think any Fox thats even advertised for over $4000 better come with 5-lug/brake upgrade and some frame reinforcement.

Also keep in mind, the Foxs sell for much less than advertised. Besides a few crazies like us, NOBODY wants these cars... That being said, you still have to be lucky to find something you like and has been cared for/clean etc..

What a crock of shit.

In MN, Sunday is a pretty big day for people to look at cars since dealers are closed so the vultures can't hassle you.

Even if I'm serious, when it comes to used cars I like to look on a Sunday first since I can write the car off in 5-10 seconds usually; I can also comb over a car cosmetically for thirty minutes without being hassled if it looks good at first glance. If it checks out then I go back when they are open.

I decided to go look at the maroon onw since despite the horrible colors and AOD, it looks good and it's a 1-owner car.

The straight shot freeway there is closed for resurfacing, so I had to take a 30 mile (no joke) detour to get there. Surprise surprise, when I get there thecar is nowhere to be found. While this seems to happen literally 80% of the time I go to look, the reason was different this time--their dumbass lot, despite the outdoor pictures, is indoors behind a couple ghetto limo tinted windows so you can't see jack shit anyway.

Put that your shit is indoors on your website, fuckin pissed me off

After giving my car a wash and a quick n dirty coat of pete's 53 tonight, i think im gonna have to stick with my ride. im not even huge on black but there is nothing like a clean black car at dusk. my GT has every option including the tough to find 3.27 gears, it's my favorite year sn, it's literally exactly what i wouldve bought in 1998. i also have a solid car, know what i have, have a decent bit into it, and its unmolested (bone stock except for a K&N FIPKII which is exactly the CAI i would've bought and a crappy set of glasspacks which actually dont sound nearly as bad as youd expect) and its motorcraft down to the battery. that last bit is huge to me. even better, all vin tags are in place and i do believe it to have factory paint. spotless underneath, which is also a big one.

ill stick with what i got for the forseeable future, unless it gets totalled.
