Fox vs. SN?

Every once in a while I get a Fox Body itch I want to scratch; a fox was the original car I wanted at 15, and I got it's rival, which I have zero regrets about. I also swore off old cars as dailies after my current '98 and should really just look forward from here out to cars with warranties.

But I still think about trading my '98 for a '91-'92 fox.

The SN is super comfy and refined, and I'm impressed for its age. It makes an awesome DD IMO.

But those who've owned both, what about the fox? How does it compare to an SN in terms of DD comfort? I fear the SN is probably worlds ahead for a DD, but would like to hear impressions.

It's getting tough to find stock foxes in great shape.

Man I've never owned a fox but every time I ride in one I'm so glad I own an SN95. Some foxes do look really sweet though, but so can our cars.

the interiors aren't so great. I've seen some guys swap for complete SN interior. Only then would I REALLY want I Fox ...The coupes look terrible IMO...hatch back all day.

I owned a fox for a short time and the most common complains Ive heard are. 4 lugs do not leave as many wheel options, there is less overall stiffness of the car (body roll exc..) As far as a daily driver goes I think I would rather have an SN95 but the fox's are sweet. Why cant you get both, is the 98 paid off and if so just save up for a fox for later on?

I have only owned foxes, my 94 is my 1st SN.

As far as driving/comforts... um they are both on a 78/79 Fairmont chassis. They handle very similar, the fox has much weaker brakes, but you won't really see a difference until you start pushing them. Interior is a tossup, whatever your cup of tea, I prefer the old 79-86 interiors on the foxes. Notch or hatch, I like them both. Not a vert fan. The SN is probably a little more tame on the treet, a little quieter, less rattles, but I bet if you drove a 93 GT and a 94 GT you'd hardly notice a difference. Except, the 93 may be a little tiny bit faster. Weight, I don't think they are that much different. Not sure how much they fattened up after the 4.6, but my 94 is lighter than my 89 notch.

Here are a few I've owned...

Oh, and the aftermarket is really good for a Fox, or SN for that matter. So you can improve anything you don't like for pretty cheap.

I've had a Mustang II, Fox, new edge and now my SN95. I wouldn't go back to the Fox unless i was planning an all out race car where the weight difference really mattered

As mentioned the interiors suck, The car has the weird double center console and the instrument panel with the "paddle" buttons is annoying

Im an 80's kid so I grew up with foxes and they do hold alot of value to my heart. BUT when I went looking for my next toy I looked at about 10 foxes from 82 - 93 and I loved the look but not the feel. no matter how cool or nice they were. And I was only looking for a toy not a DD.

Id like to get a 93 Cobra at some point but as far as a DD I wouldn't want it to be a fox unless it had some nice suspension upgrades and chassis stiffing.
