hey guys,

first off. i didnt buy the car for fuel mileage, just throwing that out there now lol.

anyways, this car is pretty new to me [ week old ] and with lots of highway use im sitting at 432 miles with 1/8 tank to go. currently that would put the car at 28mpg. i use the cruise constantly and shift at 2000-2200 around town. i figured id be lucky to get a high of 26mpg. i checked around and saw that the car has a 15.4 gallon tank. that matches with what the owners manual says. thats small. :dontknow:

is it possible for a bone stock cobra vert to pull down 30mpg highway @ 70mph or is my fuel gauge that far off? it hasnt sputtered or hesitated around a corner or anything that would suggest "GET TO A STATION NOW" on me so...yeah.

btw, my wife loves the car. the first thing she did after turning the corner of our street was run it up thru 1st, bark second, run it up thru 3rd and chirp third [ i think, sounded like it anyways i was outside but she was far away ].

I got 26mpg when it was stock at 70mph, and mine weighs a little less. I wouldn't call 30 impossible, but it is higher then others I've seen.

P.S. Your wife is a badass lol.

Seems high, but it's perfectly feasable. i get 22-23 with mostly highway. i have 4.30s and do pretty much 80 everywhere I go

I get anywhere from 12-16 to the gallon. My car is mostly stock, I wish I got 20+ miles

ok i dunno. maybe my car has the rare 4 cylinder cobra v-8 look alike option or something. i decided to fill up at 438 miles and the car only took 13.2 gallons as i was actually scared of running out of gas. that means i averaged 33.1 mpg. WTF? does this car have a 15.4 gallon tank for sure?!

thats better than my friggin 4 banger on the highway. granted, most of those miles were on the highway at a steady 70mph but i did get on it from time to time and like i said, my wife drove the hell out of the car for a bit too.

since the car is new, ive been driving around shifting at about 2000-2200 and into 5th as quickly as possible then setting cruise as much as possible. ill get on it if i need to. other than that, i dunno. the car is bone friggin stock.

I made 27.5mpg ONCE on perfectly flat Florida roads without stopping the whole tank. But, I have a 5.0... so who knows.

It's common for a 4v to get over 25 on the highway, but man 33 is crazy. Either your motor was built perfectly and everything is greased excessively, you're running far to lean, or you had a hell of a tailwind lol.

I don't find it crazy if the car is well maintained and driven for optimum mpg. I used to get 30mpg on my trips from NJ to Florida doing @ 80mph and cruising. This was when the car was rather stock with K&N filter/Catback and 3.73 as my only mods. Now I avg @ 18-19 mixed but need a tune up.

That was before they started adding Ethanol into the gas.
Now everyone MPG have gone down.

I got 27.5 mpg on my way from FL to NYC, but that was with some square/beat up tires and it was in the winter, so the gas had more ethanol(?) in it so it probably got less MPG than it should have...

I probably could have gotten around 30mpg though If I hyper-miled everywhere.

Very true!
I know I get on avg almost 2mpg more in the winter when they are not using the summer blend.

Wow man that's a big difference! Especially considering the cold weather gives car less mpg than in the summer. But like you said, they use less Ethanol in the winter.
