the fuse box under the hood has that power lug that come straight off the battery to the nut/bolt on the side of the box - Does that power anything inside the fuse box or is that just for the starter power wire to connect too?

I did as well and also have never taken it apart. To fit it in the new location will be tight and if I could take it off it would be easier. Will probably pop it open tomorrow and take a look unless someone else happens too know.

Without that bolt it would be like running your car with no fuse's in the under hood fuse box.

Unplug the short battery cable from that bolt and your car will not start.

Edit: Even if your starter was connected directly to the battery, it still would not run long.

The alt fuse is in that box.

I thought the starter went too the battery and I moved it but it had been so long ago I could not remember for sure. Ok so that is the power input like we thought...

in case anyone else later has this question or needs to make some space like I did, here is what you got! The lug does supply power for all the constant power needs in the fusebox. There are two screws holding a plastic insulator and this piece down, not shown in this pic. Once they are out you can just pry it out of the connections

I bent it and modified the spot that the screw went through so that it looks like this now.

you can also see above and below that I cut off the plastic piece on the side the lug use to rest in. After shaving down the head of the bolt a bit I saved almost 3/4", saved access too the lug and now will not have too worry about it grounding out on me.
