I have a water temp gauge that i'm going to install. I was going to install the new gauge sender on the crossover where the stock gauge sender is but i dont like the idea of having a dead gauge in my cluster. any ideas where else i could mount the old sender so the old temp gauge does something? (like on a head) could i splice the stock gauge wires into the wire for the ecu temp sensor? would that work or mess up the signal going to the ecu?

I don't know about splicing wires, but I put a brass T fitting where the stock sender went, then attached the stock sender on one end and the new sender on the other. Both gauges work without any issues.

If you intend to splice into the stock wiring you have to make sure that the gauge is the same electronic sweep as the oem gauge...

meaning if the oem gauge sweeps like 1 to 10 then your aftermarket one does too. look on the corral for answers im sure its been beaten to death there.

I found a picture I took when I did my install. Hopefully it will help you.
